LINE OF DUTY DEATH — FIRE CHIEF & ASSISTANT CHIEF KILLED

BERKS COUNTY, PA — Two firefighters tragically lost their lives Saturday while assisting in the search for a missing woman, according to the Fleetwood Police Department.

Officials say the firefighters were operating a UTV northbound along the shoulder of Kutztown Road when a southbound Toyota Camry, reportedly swerving, struck the vehicle. Both members were killed in the collision.

The victims have been identified as Fire Chief Jeff Buck and Assistant Fire Chief Robert Shick of Walnuttown Fire Company.

The department released a statement asking the community to keep the Shick and Buck families in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced and will be shared when available.

We ask everyone to respect the privacy of the families, the department, and all those impacted.

Rest easy, Chiefs — we’ll take it from here.

Makin’ The Hit sends our deepest condolences to the families, the Walnuttown Fire Company, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss.
