A Veteran…
You see them carrying the colors at homecoming, standing proudly beneath the Friday night lights at football games, honoring our athletes at volleyball matches, and rendering final honors at funeral ceremonies.
They show up for parades, community celebrations, school programs, and moments of remembrance.
And so much more.
Not because they have to. Not because anyone asks them to. But because service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off.
They continue to serve their communities, honor their brothers and sisters in arms, teach the next generation about patriotism, and stand beside families during some of life’s most meaningful and difficult moments.
Sometimes we see the uniform, the flags, and the ceremony. What we don’t always see are the years of sacrifice, the memories they carry, or the commitment that keeps them showing up.
A veteran doesn’t stop serving. The mission simply changes.
The next time you see our veterans carrying the colors, standing at attention, or quietly honoring someone else’s sacrifice, take a moment to recognize the people behind the flags.
From all of us at The Meeker Veterans Community, thank you to the veterans who continue to show up for our community, time and time again.
Once a veteran. Always a veteran. Always serving. 🇺🇸
