The Group Ride Guide (GRG) is for organizing and leading group rides for Onewheel enthusiasts, and was created by the International One Wheel Association (IOWA), The Float Life (TFL) and Armor-Dilloz. The GRG emphasizes the joy of riding Onewheel with friends and the importance of group rides.

It serves as a comprehensive guide for planning successful rides and building Onewheel communities. Each type is categorized based on range, speed, terrain, and skill level to help riders choose the right event. The guide offers a detailed plan for organizing a group ride, including route planning, appointing co-leaders, engaging participants, and providing essential items like safety gear and tools. It offers tips on building and growing a local Onewheel group through platforms like Facebook, Telegram, Meetup, and the Onewheel app.

The GRG emphasizes the importance of safety, logistics, teamwork, and gradual growth. Overall, this guide provides a comprehensive resource for Onewheel riders to enhance their riding experience through organized, safe, and community-building group rides.

The GRG is a collaboration of hard work between IOWA, The Float Life and Armor Dilloz team. We want to thank Armor-Dilloz and The Float Life for contributing their knowledge, experience, and love for building the Onewheel community around the world with us! We hope you enjoy this guide and it helps all local Onewheel groups grow in size, safety, and stoke!

The Group Ride Guide serves as a comprehensive guide for planning successful rides and building Onewheel communities.

Introducing the IOWA Ranking System!

IOWA has created a mathematically-based onewheel rider ranking system designed to create a fair and unbiased ranking of the top competitive onewheel racers. The algorithm was designed with the following goals in mind:

Neutrality: rankings should be mathematically calculated based on real-world results

Merit: reward riders who consistently achieve good results

Participation: secondarily, reward riders who participate in many events, up to a point (success should not be pay-to-play)

History: rankings should operate across seasons

Simplicity: the community should be able to understand how the rankings work

Great advocacy work by one of our IOWA directors, Thiana Fierro, and the San Antonio Onewheel crew! Check out their article to see what you can learn and apply in your own area to keep or gain access to your favorite trails. Remember that participation and volunteer work are often the first steps of advocacy, so don’t wait for an invitation to get involved—get your hands dirty today and start building that sweat equity!

We appreciate San Antonio parks & rec for keeping their minds open to new ways of sharing and enjoying public trails. We look forward to continuing the conversation in SA and everywhere that Onewheel riders love to enjoy the outdoors!

The group launched in 2018 and has made some progress within the community.
