Dan is deeply invested in the Medina County community and has spent years serving local organizations, including the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity of Medina County, and United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties. As an attorney and business advisor, Dan brings valuable experience in real estate, business transactions, succession planning, and organizational development to the Foundation. But his commitment to the community goes well beyond his professional work. Dan and his wife, Lauren, live in Medina with their two children and miniature goldendoodle. When he's not working or serving the community, you'll find him enjoying golf, spending time with family, cheering on Ohio State and Cleveland sports, or embracing his love of all things Disney. 💚

The 𝑀𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑎 𝐶𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑦 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝐹𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 is heartbroken to announce the passing of our Executive Director, Alan Penn.

His legacy and impact in service to the community throughout his lifetime was significant. In his time with MCCF, Alan was a champion for the mission, believing in the collective good that philanthropy inspires and the power it can bring to those it impacts. He helped move this organization forward in every conversation he had and coffee he shared. We know he had great plans to help establish this young foundation into a lasting and meaningful hub for good. We will do everything we can as a board and organization to honor his vision and continue his work.

One of our 2025–26 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑝𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 was the Hope Meadows Foundation, in support of its Bridging Hope program! 💙🐴

Through Bridging Hope, women from the Hope Recovery Community of Medina County who are recovering from substance use disorders will have the opportunity to participate in equine group therapy. This meaningful program will provide a supportive environment where participants can build trust, strengthen confidence, and find connection and healing alongside others on the journey of recovery.

We believe a strong community is one that shows up for its neighbors, offering hope, compassion, and support, no matter what the need. We are honored to support Hope Meadows Foundation as it helps women move forward with courage and reminds them that they never have to walk the path to recovery alone.

We're grateful to Executive Director Alan Penn and Board Member Jim Gerspacher for highlighting the lasting impact of local philanthropy throughout Medina County. From supporting more than 140 nonprofit organizations to investing in the future of our community, every partnership helps strengthen the place we all call home.
Thank you, Medina Sunrise Rotary, for bringing community leaders together to inspire collaboration and a stronger future for Medina County!

This morning, Medina Sunrise Rotary welcomed three special speaking guests: Alan Penn, Executive Director of the Medina County Community Foundation; Jim Gerspacher of Gerspacher Real Estate Group and Board Member of the Medina County Community Foundation; and Jason Stevenson, who shared exciting updates about the upcoming The Legacy Hotel.

Alan and Jim highlighted the incredible growth of the Medina County Community Foundation. Since becoming independent in 2024, the Foundation has doubled its assets to $4 million, supports 140 local nonprofits, and awarded more than $40,000 in grants last year. Their vision for continued growth will help strengthen Medina County through investments in affordable housing, healthcare, arts and culture, children's safety and security, and non profit support.

Jason shared an exciting preview of the Legacy Hotel, a Marriott Tribute property expected to open this fall. The boutique hotel will feature 77 guest rooms, multiple dining options, a rooftop lounge overlooking Medina Square, meeting space, and a 200-person event center.
