It’s time to register for the third annual Derby Dash.

A therapeutic riding lift allows participants with limited mobility, balance challenges, or physical disabilities to mount with dignity and confidence. It also minimizes strain on our horses by avoiding uneven weight during mounting, helping them stay comfortable and healthy while they do their incredible work.

On days when your instructor is fueling herself with pretzels, the lift is especially interesting!

At We Can Ride, every piece of equipment has a purpose. Our lift helps make equine-assisted services more accessible, allowing more people to experience the physical, emotional, and social benefits of connecting with a horse.

Accessibility isn’t an extra—it’s part of the ride.

We Can Ride is excited to host the University of Minnesota Gopher Women’s basketball team today for a Herd Dynamics team building experience!

Our “barn” is a bit different from Williams Arena, and with a record that includes finishing 24–9 overall and 13–5 in the Big Ten, earning a No. 4 NCAA Tournament seed and finishing No. 15 in the AP Poll in the 2025/2026 season, it’s fair to say they know something about teamwork.

Nevertheless, they very much enjoyed learning about how horses work as a herd, interacting with their counterparts in the equine world, and bonding in a unique way off the court.

It was a BLAST having them out!

July is Disability Pride Month. 💙

Disability Pride Month is celebrated each July to honor the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990. The ADA is a landmark civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities and has helped expand access, opportunity, and inclusion for millions of Americans.

At We Can Ride, we believe disability is a natural part of the human experience—not something to be hidden or overcome. Every day, we’re inspired by the strength, determination, joy, and individuality of the riders, volunteers, families, and community members who make our mission possible.

This month, we celebrate the unique gifts, perspectives, and accomplishments of people with disabilities while recognizing that true inclusion means creating communities where everyone belongs and has the opportunity to thrive.

Thank you to everyone who helps make our barn a place where abilities are celebrated, connections are built, and every rider is seen for who they are.
