Medina Sunrise Rotary was honored to share a special Rotary tradition with our foreign exchange student, Guilherme Almeida Schatzmann, as he exchanged the Rotary flag from his hometown club, the Rotary Club de Curitiba, with MSR President David Samuelson.

These moments are a wonderful reminder of how Rotary connects people, communities, and cultures around the world. We are grateful to have Guilherme as part of our Rotary family and proud to support the life-changing impact of Rotary Youth Exchange.

Thanks to the Medina Gazette for the wonderful story highlighting Medina Sunrise Rotary’s 2026 Scholarship Winners!

We were proud to recognize these outstanding Medina-area high school seniors and graduates by awarding $2,000 scholarships to support their future endeavors. Each recipient exemplifies Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” through their dedication to helping others and making a positive impact in our community.

Congratulations to all of this year’s scholarship recipients! We look forward to seeing the difference you will continue to make in the years ahead.

This afternoon, Medina Sunrise Rotarians gathered at the McClowry’s home to celebrate our Rotary Youth Exchange student, Gui, and wish him well as he prepares to return home to Brazil in June.

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with fun and fellowship as we shared memories and experiences with Gui from his year in Medina.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported Gui during his time here. The kindness, encouragement, and hospitality helped make his exchange year truly meaningful. And special thanks to the McClowrys for hosting the party!

We will miss Gui and wish him continued success, happiness, and all the very best as he begins his next chapter back home in Brazil. Safe travels, Gui — you’ll always have a Rotary family here in Medina! 💙🌎🇧🇷

This morning, Medina Sunrise Rotary was pleased to welcome Erin Grohe, Program Director of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Erin shared the mission and vision of the newly formed CASA program through The Children's Center of Medina County and highlighted the important work being done to advocate for children in need.

What a meaningful and inspiring meeting at Medina Sunrise Rotary!

We were honored to welcome District Governor Bob Oborn and Assistant Governor Doug Hausknecht from Rotary District 6630, who presented our club with the ShelterBox Bronze certificate—recognizing our support of global disaster relief efforts. 🌍📦 Their visit also highlighted an exciting District initiative: planting 250 trees in celebration of our nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. 🌳

We also heard from our exchange student, Gui, as he wraps up his year here in Medina. He shared a glimpse into Brazilian geography, culture, and his hometown—along with photos from his many adventures across Ohio and beyond. It’s been a joy having Gui with us, and we wish him all the best in his final weeks here!

In addition, we welcomed Selena Pintos from Black River High School, who is preparing for her own exchange journey to Mexico for the 2026-2027 school year—what an exciting opportunity ahead! ✈️

ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE builds peace, one young person at a time. For over 75 years, 8,000 students and host families from 100 countries have learned a new language, discovered another culture, and have truly become global citizens through this prestigious (CISET) Council on International Standards for International Education Travel program.

You and your family can begin the adventure of a lifetime and apply to sponsor a student, ages 15-18, for a trimester of the high school academic year through your local Rotary Club.

The Medina Sunrise Rotary Club is currently selecting host families in the Medina and Highland High School Districts as one of the most rewarding experiences in your personal life. Our 2026-27 Exchange Student is a 17-year-old boy from Mexico. He arrives in August, with an assigned Rotary counselor, monthly stipend, registered with the school district and prepared to begin his studies.

Rotary District 6630 Youth Exchange Program is part of the 14 District “Ohio-Erie Multi-District Lakes to Oceans” Committee. All our inbound and outbound students come and go through this organization, made up of Rotarian community leaders committed to Rotary Youth Exchange who serve in 14 districts and 6 states.

A commemorative plaque has been installed at Medina County Park District's Shotwell Gardens, recognizing Medina Sunrise Rotary’s 2025 Impact Grant in support of this beautiful community space.

This project reflects our ongoing commitment to service—and to creating places where children and families can gather, connect, and thrive.

A heartfelt thank you to beloved MSR Rotarian Becky Shotwell and her family for their dedication and vision in bringing this space to life. Their impact will be felt for generations to come.
