This past Saturday morning, our club rolled up our sleeves at Medina's 9/11 Memorial for a morning of community service.

We had 17 Rotarians and guests turn out, including friends from Integrated Community Solutions, VFW Valor Court, our Exchange Student Iker, and Dave Becka. Thank you all for joining us!

Together we spread mulch along the trail in the woods, edged and power washed the sidewalks, scrubbed down the benches and signs, pulled weeds, and cleared branches — leaving the Memorial looking sharp and well cared for.

It was a productive morning, and we wrapped up just before the rain rolled in.

We are grateful for everyone who came out to honor this special site with their time and hard work!

Great meeting this morning at Medina Sunrise! ☀️

We started off with a warm welcome to Iker Rojas, our Rotary Youth Exchange student from Mexico, joining us for his very first MSR meeting. So glad to have you with us, Iker!

Today's main program featured the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. Missy Schreiner, Director of Membership Recruitment at the Macedonia corporate office, shared how the organization supports girls across 18 counties, helping them explore their interests, grow their confidence, and thrive in a nonpartisan environment.

We were also lucky to hear from two amazing local scouts:

🎖️ Tayden G. (12th grade, Ambassador level) shared the projects and adventures that have shaped her Girl Scout journey, along with the award levels scouts can work toward.

🎖️ Bella M. (6th grade, Cadet level) talked about her troop experiences and the badges she's earned — and what each one means to her.

Missy also shared an important need: Girl Scouts of North East Ohio is looking for more volunteers to support programs across all 18 counties. If volunteering has ever crossed your mind, now's the perfect time to step up! As Missy put it best — once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout.

A big thank you to Missy, Tayden, and Bella for such a wonderful and informative presentation!

Medina Sunrise Rotary was proud to volunteer, passing out programs at the 2026 Medina County Fair Honors Ensembles!

Coordinated by the Educational Service Center of Medina County, this incredible showcase took place last night at the Pavilion at the Medina County Fairgrounds.

Over 150 talented student musicians and singers from local school districts came together to perform in this annual celebration of young talent. 🎶🎷🥁

So proud to support our local students and schools! 👏

Our newest Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) student, Iker, has officially arrived from Mexico! 🇲🇽✈️

A few nights ago, Youth Service Chair Troy McClowery and Kevin Wermer were at the Cleveland airport to give Iker a warm Medina Sunrise Rotary welcome.

We're excited to host Iker over the coming year and can't wait to see the friendships he'll build, the experiences he'll have, and the memories he'll create. Welcome to Ohio, Iker—we're so glad you're here! 💙💛🌎

This morning, Medina Sunrise Rotary rolled up our sleeves for a club assembly focused on the heart of what we do: the Five Avenues of Service.

We split into five groups — Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, International Service, and Youth Service — and spent the morning talking through what each one really means for us and where we can grow. Good questions, honest discussion, and no shortage of ideas.

We walked away with a strong list of next steps to grow our impact here in the community. More on that to come!

Last night, Medina Sunrise Rotary came out to the ball park for our Miracle League volunteer night, and the weather delivered a perfect evening for baseball!

16 MSR Rotarians and guests stepped in as "Buddies," cheering on every hit, every run, and every high-five along the way.

And what's a great night without a sweet ending? Ice cream for the whole crew! A big thank you to Huntington Bank for treating everyone!

This is exactly why we do what we do. Grateful to everyone who came out and made it a night to remember.

Medina Sunrise Rotary welcomed a full house at this morning's meeting!

We were thrilled to officially induct our newest member, Bonnie Becka, to the club. Welcome aboard, Bonnie!

We also had the pleasure of hearing from Stella Allen and Avery Gifford, two outstanding high school students who recently attended RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) through Rotary District 6630. Sponsored by local Rotary clubs, RYLA is a five-day leadership camp that challenges students through team-building activities, ropes courses, leadership workshops, and community service projects.

Avery and Stella shared highlights from their experience, including the lasting friendships they've formed with students from across the district. They also provided valuable feedback on the student nomination process, and we appreciated hearing their perspectives firsthand.

Looking ahead, join us on Tuesday, August 4, for a "Club Assembly." We'll break into small groups to discuss our Avenues of Service, explore committee opportunities, and plan for the year ahead. It's a great chance to get involved and help shape the future of Medina Sunrise Rotary!

Last night, our community gathered for the very first concert at Shotwell Gardens — a beautiful new park in the Medina County Park District made possible by Medina Sunrise Rotary member Becky Shotwell. 💛

Access The Arts brought in Ohio Crossroads, a local three-piece bluegrass band known for their tight harmonies and love of traditional, grass-roots tunes and the audience had a wonderful time singing along!

This is Service Above Self in action. Thanks to Becky and the Shotwell family, our community now has a one-of-a-kind space to come together and enjoy nature and the arts, for years to come. 🎶💛
