ECHO HILL RANCH is a child centered, non-competitive
camp for boy and girls ages 6-16 founded in 1952 by Dr. Tom and Min Friedman, still owned by the Friedman Family, and now operated Kinky Friedman and Marcie Friedman. Echo Hill is an 'electronics free summer camp' and a designated Wildlife Management Preserve in the State of Texas. The camp is inspected annually and licensed as a Youth Summer Camp by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. We are living in an age where childhood is becoming increasingly stressful and programmed for children and parents. Summers at Echo Hill provide an invaluable opportunity for boys and girls to relax, have fun, make friends, try new activities, and enjoy the unique freedom and safety of camp life in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. A caring community and cooperative bunkhouse relationships are at the heart of the camp experience at Echo Hill. We invite you to consider Echo Hill Ranch for your children from Gold Star Families.

Our dear Echo Hill Ranch family and alum continue strong! 1-2-3-HOW! The ranch is peaceful today. On days like today we can't help but remember where were were 25 years ago. Uncle Tom was still living. Marcie was in Hanoi with the American Red Cross. Let us know your memories of that day.

Always remember our Echo Hill Ranch Gold Star Camp mission. We are giving the children of fallen military members and first responders the experience of camp. Thank you for making us successful in reaching our beloved boys and girls. đź’•

COMING THIS FRIDAY
We are honored to announce the release of our next charity b**r, TWENTY FIVE American Ale, created in partnership with Special Forces Association Alamo Chapter 15 and Echo Hill Ranch.

This b**r commemorates the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. It honors those we lost, those who answered the call, and the families who continue to carry their memory forward.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Special Forces Association Alamo Chapter 15 in support of Echo Hill Ranch. Based near Kerrville, Texas, Echo Hill Ranch provides an empowering summer camp experience for children from Gold Star families and the families of fallen first responders.

The can’s label pays tribute to the original World Trade Center towers. Out of respect for their profound place in New York City’s architecture and skyline, the towers’ iconic facades are presented without branding or text.

TWENTY FIVE American Ale will be released on September 11 at noon and will be available on tap and in cans to go.

Echo Hill Ranch Gold Star Camp was founded by the Friedman family with support from like-minded people who wanted to honor our fallen by taking care of their children.

Echo Hill Ranch is sacred ground for the children and loved ones of those who fell in service to our beloved United States of America. We honor their ultimate sacrifice in pursuit of liberty, freedom and peace. We take them into our hearts with our own lost loved ones and cherish them.

We celebrate them today, Memorial Day, 2026.

We are incredibly excited to welcome Ali Bamberger to our Emanu El team! Ali will be leading membership and member engagement, and brings exceptional relational skills and a genuine passion for Jewish engagement and community building. Ali grew up at Emanu El and knows our community — an incredible asset as she steps into this role.

In addition to her work at Emanu El, Ali will continue to serve on the board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, as co-chair of the Jewish Federation of North America National Young Leadership Cabinet, and as a committee member at the Houston Jewish Community Foundation.
