Chase Lake Foundation Founded in 1991, the Chase Lake Foundation seeks to foster the coexistance of wildlife and agriculture. All donations are tax deductible.

For more information about the Chase Lake Foundation, please visit the website at http://www.chaselakefoundation.com/. Founded in 1991, the Chase Lake Foundation seeks to bring greater awareness and appreciation of the prairie pothole landscape and to develop natural resources based opportunities for the rural community. Our goal is to build bridges of understanding and cooperation between the com

munity, landowners, farmers, and visitors to help conserve our natural resources while developing the area's full potential as one of the top birding and natural resource tourism sites in not only this nation, but also in the world. The Chase Lake Foundation is a membership-based non-profit 501c3 corporation. Anyone can become a member by making an annual financial contribution to the Foundation. Members have a vote and voice in the organization through its annual meeting held each spring and through its elected board of directors which normally meets on a monthly basis. The Chase Lake Foundation is the community-based partner with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and is recognized as an official USFWS "Friends" organization to the Chase Lake National Refuge, located north of Medina, North Dakota. This is the location of the flagship project of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan. It is also the location of North America's largest Pelican rookery. The Foundation seeks to be a link for persons to connect with the uniqueness of the Missouri Coteau landscape, habitat, communities, and people.

A wetland is an ecosystem formed when water saturates the soil to the point that organisms must be adapted to flooded conditions. Wetlands vary greatly, occurring at almost every latitude. They are said to be the most productive ecosystems on earth, as they produce food, oxygen and nutrients for surrounding areas. http://www.fws.gov/wetlands
