Buckeye Community Theatre Educational youth theatre in Medina, Ohio. Buckeye Community Theatre strives to create an atmosphere of fun while also aiming for artistic excellence.

Buckeye Community Theatre is a 501c3 nonprofit. Buckeye Community Theatre (or BCT for short) seeks to create, educate and inspire with kids in the NE Ohio area! Our classes, productions and summer camps center around the same, simple thought: an open and safe environment for children to come and be themselves makes for some pretty great experiences. Our approach is centered in education, and we of

fer many ways for kids to learn hands-on skills (on and off stage). Our students are encouraged to pursue their interests on stage and behind the scenes - from acting, technical theater and beyond, we cater to children who have a strong desire to experience a semi-professional and fun theatrical environment.

Can't attend a live audition? Don't worry! You can submit a video audition to [email protected] by June 15th, 11:59pm to be considered for a role. Pro tip: send an additional email to [email protected] that does not include any attachments, alerting us that you sent in a video. More often than not, large attachments immediately get flagged as spam. We don't want to miss your video so please let us know that you sent one in!

Did you know that The Sound Of Music was based on a true story? You can read the original source material for the movie and musical. Several books were written by Maria Von Trapp.

The book Maria is an overview of Maria Von Trapp's life, including her difficult childhood, her time at the abbey, and her marriage to Captain Von Trapp.

The book The Story of the Trapp Family Singers dives deeper into her role as governess to the Von Trapp children, her marriage, and new life in America after the war.

Thank you! Thank you! We just received a $500 grant from Walmart Wadsworth for our production of The Sound of Music: Youth Edition! This grant will go directly towards our ability to offer a Pay-What-You-Can performance. The Pay-What-You-Can performance allows audience members to pay any amount that they wish (including $0) to attend the performance on Saturday, October 24th. No one is turned away due to an inability to pay.

Frequently Asked Questions about auditions!

Q: How old must my child be to audition?
A: We will hear auditions for children ages 10 (must be 10 by opening night 10/22/26) through ages 18.

Q: Is there a cost associated with this show and if so, why?
A: Yes. If your child is cast and they accept their role, there is a participation fee of $225. BCT is proud to offer a $200 scholarship to any child who needs financial assistance. There is no proof of need required. If your child is offered a role, you will be able to request a scholarship at the time of role acceptance.

This cost goes directly towards our costs to produce a show. A production like The Sound of Music: Youth Edition costs roughly $25,000. Like many extra curricular activities including dance classes or sports, there is a fee that is associated with involvement. Due to the financial stewardship of the Buckeye Community Theatre Board of Directors, we are able to help offset the cost of participation with scholarships.

Q: May my child bring a musical instrument to accompany themselves during the audition?
A: They may, although we will be focused solely on their singing and acting ability.

Q: My child would like to participate in crew or help backstage, do they need to audition?
A: No. After auditions are complete, we will post an application for backstage help. This will take place around August and will be posted on our website.

Q: My child is will be sending in a virtual audition, do I need to select an audition time?
A: No, please do not select a time. Email your audition video to [email protected] ensuring that it includes both a song AND reading of the lines. Also, please make sure to fill out all audition forms.
