The House and Senate released their budgets today, and both contain disturbing cuts.

The budgets include 1.5% across-the-board cuts to higher education funding.

The House budget contains a proviso that asks for a recommendation to close at least one community college or technical college by November 1 of this year.

We're asking YOU to speak up for the higher education institutions that are essential to our economy, students, and communities.

Our own Local 573 member McKenna Hodgson filled the vacant 2025-27 statewide Executive Board of the Washington Federation of State Employees seat at our Procedures and Policy meeting this weekend. McKenna is also on our Local 573 Exeutive board members. She works at our Spokane Childrens SOLA houses. Congratulations McKenna!

WFSE has a new Executive Board, the statewide body of members that conduct the business of our union between conventions. When convention is not in session, it is the highest governing body of our union.
