The Botstiber Institute for Wildlife Fertility Control is entering an exciting new chapter in leadership.

After years of dedicated service as Managing Director, Monique Principi will transition into the role of Director Emeritus, where she will continue to support the Institute and its mission.

At the same time, we are pleased to welcome Derek Rosenfield, Ph.D. as BIWFC’s new Managing Director as we continue advancing reproductive management as part of an integrated approach to mitigate human–wildlife conflicts worldwide through education, outreach, and engagement.

We are grateful for Monique’s lasting leadership and look forward to this next phase for BIWFC.

Some experiences stay with you long after the conference ends. đź’›

Thank you to Manel Lopez-Bejar , Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona , and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona for welcoming the BIWFC community during the 10th International Conference on Wildlife Fertility Control.

One unforgettable moment was experiencing the Catalan tradition of Castells — human towers with more than 200 years of history that represent teamwork, trust, balance, resilience, and community spirit. In 2010, Castells were recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

It was also rewarding to see former BIWFC Summer School participants now contributing to the field as both an oral presenter and poster presenter during ICWFC 2026.
