šŸ šŸ„Ž Thanks to our Board and league volunteers, Media Softball undertook a large Barrall Field upgrade project this weekend! Our infields were in desperate need of additional dirt and we added 20 tons of infield mix to both fields. We helped remedy dugout flooding issues by adding 10 tons of red tipple rock to all dugouts. We cleaned up the 6U field by clearing out the batter’s box and bases and adding infield mix to those areas to make the space playable again. The floor of our shed was reinforced and fixed so it would be structurally sound again. None of this would have been possible without the many hours of time volunteered by our Swarm Community. Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible! šŸ šŸ„Ž

šŸ„Ž MEDIA AREA GIRLS SOFTBALL – SPRING REGISTRATION IS OPEN! šŸ„Ž

We’re excited to kick off another amazing season of Media Area Girls Softball (MAGS)! Our top priorities are simple: develop the girls, help them have fun, and build lifelong friendships.

This spring we’re offering: ✨ 6U (FUN‑damentals – NEW FORMAT!) ✨ 8U ✨ 10U ✨ 12U All divisions will compete in the Baltimore Pike League with Clifton Heights, Springfield, and Swarthmore!

šŸ„Ž What’s New for 6U?

Our youngest division is getting a big upgrade! 6U is now FUN‑damentals, a development‑focused program designed to keep players engaged and excited. The season will include: • Fun, fast‑paced drills • Mini‑games to build confidence • Skill development to prepare for 8U • A dedicated league coordinator • Coach‑pitch game action to close out the season

This is NOT traditional T‑Ball — it’s a more active, more fun, and more development‑focused experience!

šŸ“… Season runs mid‑March through May šŸ† Playoffs for 8U, 10U & 12U (8U seeding will be randomized to keep the focus on development and fun!)

āš ļø Spots are limited! Once a division fills, players will be placed on a waitlist.

šŸ“ Evaluations (10U & 12U only) will take place in late February to help balance pitchers and catchers across teams.

šŸ“„ NEW for 2026 – Age Eligibility Changes

National age‑eligibility rules have changed for 2026. Because of this, birth certificate verification is required this season. We’ll announce several dates where families can stop by to confirm DOB.

12/23/2025

Good morning!

As many of you know, Registration for our Spring Season "Rec" divisions opened yesterday. We've received a number of questions about league eligibility specific to age cut-offs - so we wanted to provide more clarity.

For those who did not participate in our Fall Ball season, or do not recall those communications - age cut-offs/league eligibility (as set forth by USA Softball, USSSA, Babe Ruth, etc..) shifted in 2025. This might mean that your child's league eligibility will be different this spring than it was last year. (For more detail on the USSSA age brackets, feel free to view below).

Specifically, we have received numerous requests related to "moving up" from the 6U division (previously referred to as T-Ball). Unfortunately, these cannot be accommodated this season, for several important reasons:
• Given the eligibility changes, the overall level of play (across all leagues) will rise
• There is already a notable and substantial skills delta across ages 7-9
• 8U saw record registration numbers and record rain-outs last season, making field
availability a consistent challenge

The good news is we will be adjusting our 6U format, starting this season - hence the rebrand away from "T--Ball"! The structure of our 6U "FUN-damentals" league will operate much like Fall Ball 2025. That is, a mix of drills and games designed to keep our youngest softballers' attention, develop the necessary skills to be successful in 8U, and - most importantly- have FUN! 6U will be led by a league coordinator responsible for accomplishing these goals. The season will close with real, coach pitch game action just like Fall Ball.

Please note that the youngest DOB in 6U will be an August 2020 DOB.

We hope this helps - and as always, thanks for your support of Media Softball.

The new USSSA Fastpitch season (2026) starts August 11th, 2025. The league age of the athlete is determined by the player’s age on August 31st.
