Feeding the Hungry
The Medford Mobile Food Pantry was established to help feed the hungry, by providing food to those in need. It is a partnership between St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Feed My People. Feed My People, an organization located in Eau Claire Wisconsin, delivers food to St. Paul’s via truck. Stores and corporations, such as Walmart, donate food to Feed My People. This is a community
program and there is no cost to those receiving food. The amount of food distributed is based on the amount delivered by Feed My People and the number of households who come to the distribution site. A generous quantity and variety of foods are provided and distributed each month. Non-perishables, fresh produce, meat products, cheese, bread and bakery products are typically available. There are no residency requirements, so everyone in need is welcome to come to St. Paul’s on distribution day. Food will be delivered to your vehicle in the parking lot as you drive through our distribution site. Distribution Day: Every third Thursday of the month the food truck will arrive at St. Paul's at approximately 1:00 pm. Volunteers will unload, sort, and divide items into equal shares. Then from 4:00-5:00 pm, shares will delivered to vehicles. Any remaining food will be donated to the Medford Baptist Church or Indianhead Food Pantries to be provided to those in need. Volunteers: Approximately 15 volunteers are needed each distribution day from 1:00 - 5:30 pm to help unload the truck, sort, divide and deliver food to vehicles. We also may need volunteers to transport food to those unable to drive. If people are interested in helping, they can contact St. Paul's church office at 715-748-4909 or email [email protected]. Donations: It costs $360 a month to bring a truckload of food from Eau Claire to Medford. Start-up funding from Thrivent Financial was provided several years ago.
