🎉 Happy Birthday to Justin Dart Jr., born August 29, 1930 — widely known as the "Father of the ADA."

Justin contracted polio at 18 and went on to spend nearly 40 years as one of the most influential leaders in the disability rights movement. Alongside his wife Yoshiko, he traveled the country — twice, at their own expense — collecting stories from people with disabilities to bring back to Washington, D.C. Those stories helped shape the Americans with Disabilities Act.

On July 26, 1990, he stood on stage as President George H.W. Bush signed the ADA into law, opening doors — literally and figuratively — for millions of Americans.

His work reminds us that lasting change comes from showing up, telling our stories, and refusing to give up.
