Southern Oregon Runners is Oregon's First Running Club since 1969! We hope to promote running in Southern Oregon and the Rogue Valley! Come on out and join us!

Oregon’s first running club has been an integral part of the running scene since 1969 when it was formed to promote health and fitness. The club was named the Southern Oregon Sizzlers until 2007. With hundreds of members, this non-for-profit organization holds more than 15 races each year in the Southern Oregon area. The original colors that still exist are red, white, & blue - a celebration of the respect for diversity and freedom of our nation. These colors have been worn proudly in events spanning our nation, including the U.S. Olympic Trials. The first race organized by the club was a Fourth of July, 10 miler in Eagle Point. We were born, on Independence Day. Two other events were established early on and continue to be, two of the oldest road races in Oregon: Stage Coach and Pioneer. Pioneer is the only event held on the original course since it’s initial running in 1971. Over the years, the club has provided many races and fun runs, including two national championships, a Master’s 25 km & a Master’s Marathon.Members receive monthly newsletters from the club and the national organization, Road Runners Club of America. They also receive discounts on races and merchandise from several local running stores. The main benefit is that of belonging to a community oriented organization while pursuing one’s hobby of running/walking. The camaraderie which the club founders sought still abounds among Southern Oregon Runners. This page will update our club events and information. If you would like to put up your own information head on over to our public group page for event postings, run group information and discussions.

Rogue XC isn't just for the competitive teams, it's a morning for the whole family.

Kick things off with the community 5k, then the elementary mile: a perfect first race for your youngest runner! Stick around for the middle school and high school meet to cap off the morning. Wood chip trail, open grass, and one small hill make for a course that's fun for beginners and a real test for the veterans.

Bring the grandparents, bring the stroller, bring the kid who's convinced they're the fastest one in the family. Everyone's got a race to run at Colver Field.

Rogue XC is in two weeks! Let's break down how it works if you're racing for the team, not just for yourself.

Teams are 5-7 runners. Your top 5 finishers score for the team, and runners 6 and 7 still matter: they can "displace" runners from other teams and push their scores up. Lowest team score wins the division, and if there's a tie, it comes down to your 6th runner.

Division winners take home great prizes from our sponsors, so every runner on the roster counts, even the ones bringing up the back of the pack.

Still need teammates? There's time to recruit.

Register your team:

The Rogue XC is on Saturday September 26, 2026. It includes the following events: Rogue XC Community 5K and Rogue XC Elementary Mile.

Rogue XC Invitational is coming to Colver Field on Saturday, Sept 26, and this one's more fun with a crew.

Round up 5-7 friends and get to work on the most important part of race day: your team name! Coworkers, neighbors, whoever's up for it, this is your sign to make it official.

Then, get ready to test your mettle on Southern Oregon's official 5k cross country course traversing wood chips, grass, and...one very sneaky hill!

Who's already scheming their team name? Drop your team name in the comments. We want to hear it.

Bonus: every registration supports Talent Middle School Cross Country.
