I’m reaching out to ask all MSD549c Classified staff to take a few minutes to complete an anonymous Cost of Living Survey.
At our bargaining session on Monday, April 13th, the district presented their proposal. It was essentially our current contract with updated dates, an offer of 0.5% less COLA than our current agreement, and existing insurance and MOU language folded in. There was no meaningful movement, no new ideas, and no clear recognition of the financial reality classified staff are facing.
To be honest, seeing a proposal that reflected so little effort or appreciation for the work you do every day was deeply disappointing.
That is exactly why this survey matters.
We need real, concrete data to show the district:
How many of our members are struggling to meet basic needs
How many are working multiple jobs
How many rely on assistance or credit just to get by
How many are considering leaving because wages are not sustainable
Your responses will directly strengthen our ability to push back and demand a fair contract.
The district needs to understand that a 9% COLA spread over four years is not enough to support classified staff or keep people in these essential roles. This survey helps us prove that with real numbers and real stories.

The more people who complete this survey, the stronger our position is at the bargaining table. Please take a few minutes to share your experience, and encourage your coworkers to do the same.
Your voice matters in this process - and right now, we need it more than ever.
