📣 Sideline hype volume test (yes, we’re measuring it)

Hornet Nation… it’s official. 🖤💚

Last fall, we celebrated the retirement of a legend — Coach Jimmy Rice.
Last week, we made it permanent.

His bench is now installed at Pole Green Park… a place where his impact will live on for generations of Hornets to come.

For over 30 years, Coach Rice has poured into young athletes across Central Virginia — building champions on the field and even better men off it.
With the Hornets, his legacy speaks for itself:

🏆 Back-to-back 10U Champions (2022 & 2023)
🏆 Spring Championship (Hanover Warriors – first ever)
🔥 39–2 record over the last 4 fall seasons
🚫 Dominance defined: 162 points scored, 0 allowed in one undefeated run

But if you know Coach Rice… you know it was never just about the scoreboard.

It was about LLP — Long Live Power.
Full speed. Full effort. Every single day.

It was about pushing kids beyond what they thought they could do…
and loving them like they were his own.

This bench isn’t just a place to sit —
it’s a reminder of the standard he set.

ATTN: Girls Flag Football Families

The Mechanicsville Hornets would like to address the many questions and inquiries we’ve received regarding Girls Flag Football.

At this time, MYFL has not announced or confirmed plans for a Fall Girls Flag Football league. Because of this, the Mechanicsville Hornets will not be fielding a Girls Flag Football team at this time.

This decision was made collectively by our organization, and while we are disappointed that we cannot offer this opportunity right now, we believe it is the best decision for the program moving forward.

If MYFL announces plans for a girls flag league in the future, we will absolutely revisit the opportunity and keep our players, families, and community informed.

We appreciate the continued support of our Hornets Family and remain committed to growing opportunities for all of our athletes.

We love our girls who love to ball, and we hope to welcome you back on the field soon.

Any future updates regarding Girls Flag Football will be shared as soon as more information becomes available.

🐝 We’re officially declaring 3/6 National Hornets Day!!! 🐝

Why? Because just 3 weeks after registration opened, every tackle football team is already on a waitlist.

Yeah… we’d say that’s worth celebrating. 🏈💚

(And no — this doesn’t mean registration is closed. It simply means tackle teams are currently full and new athletes will be placed on the waitlist if spots open.)

💚 Mechanicsville understood the assignment. 💪

🐝 MEET THE BOARD — CO CHEER DIRECTOR 🐝

Meet Ashley! A proud mom of four girls — two of whom are Hornets cheerleaders — Ashley is heading into her 5th season with the Hornets and her second year serving as Co Cheer Director. If you’re at a game, chances are you’ll hear her before you see her, as she loves bringing energy to the sidelines and hyping up the girls every chance she gets!

For Ashley, being a cheer director is incredibly rewarding. She loves watching each athlete grow throughout the season and helping them build friendships, confidence, dedication, perseverance, and a passion for the sport. Seeing the girls blossom year after year is what makes the role so meaningful.

When she’s not on the sidelines, Ashley stays busy homeschooling her girls, fostering kittens, and crocheting for her small business.
