We don’t talk enough about teaching our children how to build relationships. Not just collecting contacts, but learning how to communicate, add value, and show up with confidence. One conversation can lead to a mentor. One introduction can lead to an opportunity. One relationship can open a door they didn’t even know existed.

We must begin to teach our young people that their circle matters. Encourage them to speak up, ask questions, shake hands, and build genuine connections wherever they go.

Because the right connection at the right time can change the direction of their life.

Teen Summit RVA Workshop Session: How do you build, brand, and pitch a business idea?

At these students took on the challenge—turning ideas into real business pitches through teamwork, creativity, and confidence.

This is what it looks like when young people are given the opportunity to think, lead, and create. They’re building relationships, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

We must begin to give our young people more opportunities like this. Because when they’re given the space… they rise.

Join the community for the Youth Empowerment Finale hosted by Hear Our Voices!

As prepares for his next chapter in college, this special event celebrates a season of impact and the many young lives that have been uplifted through this work. Elijah has also been a longtime supporter of the Richmond Children’s Business Fair, always showing love and encouragement to our young entrepreneurs.

This isn’t just the end of a season—it’s the beginning of a new chapter. I encourage everyone in the community to come out, support our youth, and help fill the park one more time to make this finale truly unforgettable.
