Henry Volunteer Fire Department Welcome to the official page for the Henry Volunteer Fire Department #6 in Mechanicsville,

Welcome to the official page for the Henry Volunteer Fire Department #6 in Mechanicsville, VA. Our department was established in 1960 as an all volunteer department, originally called the Ashcake Volunteer Fire Department. Later that year, a building on Patrick Henry Blvd was acquired and our name was changed to the Henry District Volunteer Fire Department and once, again to our current Henry Volunteer Fire Department. Today, we are a combination department consisting of career and volunteer firefighters, both men & women. Our career firefighters are at the station Monday thru Friday and volunteers run nights & weekends. Our department responds to calls in the 301, I-295, I-95 corridor. Currently our station runs approximately 1,800 calls per year including medical calls. We are also keeping up our traditions of Santa Runs during the holidays, birthday parties in the firehouse, and many others. Please feel free to drop by and check out our apparatus, and visit with our firefighters. Please stop by and visit our website: http://www.henryvfd.org/

Last week crews participated in fire safety and prevention week. Here we have staff from 6 C giving knowledge and a demonstration of gear as well as a tour of the trucks. Rain didn’t stop these guys from learning, nor should it for anyone.

Parents, it’s important to have a plan of action. Sit down with your kids, make a map and discuss that map/plan if a fire or emergency ever happens with your loved ones.

A day of remembrance for one of our own, one who will never be forgotten.

A day of remembrance for one of our own, one who will never be forgotten.

Today, we mark the anniversary of the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Brad Clark, who was tragically struck and killed while working on Interstate 295 during Hurricane Michael in 2018.

Brad’s sacrifice helped lead to stronger penalties under the state’s Move Over Law. His wife, Melanie, continues to honor his memory by sharing his story and educating the public about the importance of moving over and slowing down for emergency workers.

We remember Brad, honor his service, and stand with his family and all who loved him. Let his story remind us that moving over and slowing down can save lives.
