Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity We are a locally run, independent affiliate for over 35 years and have built homes alongside families who pay an affordable mortgage.

For over 30 years, Habitat has built homes alongside families who pay an affordable mortgage. With Habitat’s help and the help of the community, homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families. The ReStore is a non-profit home improvement store and donation center of Habitat for Humanity. We sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. The Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) is a non-profit fundraising program for over 120,000 Commonwealth employees to donate to their favorite causes annually. Leadership Update from Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity

After more than two years with Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity, Morgan Dean, our Executive Director, is moving on to a new opportunity in West Virginia. We are excited for her as she begins this next chapter in her career and wish her every success!

During her time with Habitat, Morgan has strengthened our advocacy efforts, built new relationships throughout our community, and explored creative approaches to expanding affordable housing opportunities in Hanover and King William counties. We are grateful for the time, energy, and ideas she brought to our mission and for the connections she fostered along the way.

As we look ahead, we have begun the search for our next Executive Director to lead our organization to its next chapter. A new Virginia law, known as the Faith in Housing Act (HB 1279/SB 388), creates a new opportunity for eligible religious organizations and certain nonprofits to use land they own for affordable housing. Beginning January 1, 2027, qualifying projects can be developed by-right, without requiring a rezoning or certain discretionary zoning approvals.

Are you interested in becoming a Habitat homeowner? Now is a great time to learn more and get prepared!

We originally anticipated opening our next Homeownership Program application period in October. However, due to our current land inventory, we have decided to move the application period to early 2027.

In the meantime, prospective homeowners can visit our website to learn more about Habitat’s Homeownership Program, including eligibility requirements and what to expect from the application process.

We’ll also be hosting homeowner interest sessions (both virtually and in person) where individuals can learn more about the program, ask questions, and prepare for the upcoming application period. Stay tuned for dates and registration information!

Habitat homeownership is a partnership that requires time, commitment, and hard work, but it can provide families with the opportunity to purchase a safe, affordable home and build long-term housing stability.

💧 It takes a community to build a home! 🏠

A HUGE thank you to Gayle's Auto Collision Repair LLC and Townsend Company and Sons for helping us get the water we needed to keep our Beaverdam build moving this morning!

Gayle’s Auto Collision Repair helped us access water so our team could begin laying the foundation. Then, Townsend Co. & Sons went above and beyond by dropping off a large supply of water at our Beaverdam lot so we could continue the work.

Thanks to these two local businesses, we were able to keep the foundation process moving instead of facing a delay. We are incredibly grateful for neighbors who step up and help make affordable homeownership possible in our community.
