Letโs talk about our Junkyard Chickens. ๐โค๏ธ
These beautiful girls are thriving. Their color is coming back, their feathers are looking healthier, and their little personalities are starting to shine. And letโs just sayโฆ they are very much enjoying their worms. ๐
The truth is, these chickens were once unwanted and left behind. But now they are coming to a no-kill shelter โ aka their no-kill coop โ where they are safe, loved, and cared for every single day.
And what a privilege this is, not only for the chickens, but also for our clients. Our CCAWL clients are amazing caretakers. They show up with patience, kindness, and pride as they help feed, clean, check on, and care for these ladies. They are learning responsibility, compassion, animal care skills, and what it means to give another living thing a second chance.
These chickens are not just getting a coop โ they are getting the bougie lifestyle they deserve. Their nesting boxes even have lavender and marigolds, because around here, we believe healing should come with a little comfort and a lot of love. ๐ผ๐
And we have to give a special shoutout to Joe and Eric from the champaign county board of disabilities , who helped make the roosting towers for our girls. That kind of support means so much โ not only to the chickens, but to the clients who get to be part of caring for them every day.
Edie and the clients are working hard to make sure these girls never feel unwanted again. From worms and fresh bedding to safe shelter, roosting towers, and gentle hands, these chickens are finally getting treated like the queens they are.
If you see or hear of any more โjunkyard chickensโ being dumped or left behind, please let us know at CCAWL. Every animal deserves safety, care, and a second chance.
Welcome to your no-kill coop, ladies. You are home now. โค๏ธ๐
