“🐱❄️ A Little Shelter Can Make a BIG Difference! 🏠❤️

When temperatures drop, outdoor and stray cats need a warm, dry place to escape the cold. The good news? You don't have to spend a fortune to help! 🐾💕

💙 A few important tips for a safer shelter:
🐾 Use a waterproof container with a secure lid.
🐾 Insulate the walls and floor to help keep warmth inside.
🐾 Make the entrance small and face it away from prevailing winds.
🐾 Use dry straw, not hay, blankets, or towels, for outdoor bedding because fabric can absorb moisture and make cats colder.
🐾 Raise the shelter off the ground and check it regularly to ensure it stays dry and safe.”

Carley has been waiting at Benny's PET DEPOT since late July, and we're hoping THIS will be the sign her future family needs to apply to adopt this friendly, independent girl. Carley is ✨fully sponsored.✨ Her future family will need to fill out the adoption application, go through the vetting process and be approved — so we can ensure that she goes to a safe and loving home — but the right adopter will not need to pay adoption fees.

Carley's foster dad thinks she would prefer a home with a smaller number of (or no other) adult cats (versus the hustle and bustle of many cats and/or kittens). She loves sitting in the windowsill and observing outdoor activities. Go see her at Benny’s, where she would love to meet you.

(The photo is of Carley before she was rescued.)

Ginger can fit into a shoebox designed for someone with much smaller feet. The spacious carrier remains, apparently, physically impossible. 📦🐾

I’ve checked the measurements. I’ve checked the cat. The difficulty seems to be where the box might take him.

Tuxedo has inspected both options. Shadow is staying a sensible distance from anything with a handle. The Persian is watching me discover that “plenty of room” is not a persuasive argument.

Ginger has folded himself into the shoebox so tightly that I can barely see the bottom.

I moved the carrier two inches closer.

He somehow became smaller.

The vet asked me to bring him in at ten. At this rate I’ll be arriving with a pair of shoes and an explanation. 😑
