HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT FRIDAY

Instruction: Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and stay in an air-conditioned room. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Review heat safety and preparedness information at weather.gov/safety/heat. Check up on relatives and neighbors, and provide pets with adequate water and shelter from the sun. Meet our most recent Grant Recipient, Brownie from Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue (NEBTR).

“Brownie, one of our Boston Terrier rescues, was neutered on Friday, May 14th, but began experiencing severe scrotal swelling this past Monday. His foster home brought him back to the veterinarian on Tuesday, where he was prescribed antibiotics. By Wednesday, the swelling had worsened significantly, and Brownie had stopped eating and drinking. He was then taken to the emergency vet, where he was diagnosed with an abscess requiring emergency surgery to drain and repair the area.”
