OCAF also assists in transportation to C-snip or Quick Fix Vet for

pets you may already have that are in need of lower priced spaying/neutering. This organization is all non profit, so we ask for help from the community. Cash boxes can be found in various locations around the community such as Hansens grocery store, Pentwater Convenience Center in Pentwater, and Dave's Party Store in Hart, to name a few. Cat food, blankets, scoop-able kitty litter and any pet supplies are also wonderful donations, always appreciated and always useful. We prefer dry Purina cat and kitten chow. Wet food in Pate style and Fancy Feast Kitten wet food . We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Whitcomb Foundation for their generous support of Oceana County Animal Friends.
As many of our supporters know, OCAF has recently been navigating a ringworm outbreak while continuing to care for a full shelter and the many cats who rely on us every day. While treatment, cleaning, and biosecurity protocols are critical, maintaining a healthy environment is equally important. Our shelter has identified air purification equipment as an important part of our long-term disease prevention and shelter health efforts. 
Thanks to the Whitcomb Foundation's generosity, OCAF will be purchasing HEPA air purifiers for multiple areas of the shelter, including the Romper Room, House Cat Room, Quarantine/Garage space, and Kitten Room. These units will help improve air quality for the cats, volunteers, and visitors while supporting a cleaner and healthier environment for the hundreds of cats who pass through our care each year.
This gift is more than equipment. It is an investment in the health, wellbeing, and future of every cat who enters our shelter.

We Need Your Help and Understanding ❤️
Right now, Oceana County Animal Friends is caring for 80 cats and kittens, and we are receiving calls for help with 20-30 more.
As much as we wish we could say yes to every request immediately, our shelter and foster homes are at capacity. Taking in more cats before we have space would compromise the care we can provide to the animals already in our custody.
If you currently have kittens or a cat that needs assistance, please do your part to keep them safe, sheltered, and fed while they wait for placement. We are maintaining a waiting list and will contact families as soon as space becomes available.
The best way to help right now: 🐾 Foster a cat or kitten�🐾 Volunteer your time�🐾 Donate supplies or food�🐾 Help us connect community cats with spay/neuter services
We know it's hard to wait when animals need help, and we appreciate your patience and compassion. Together, we can make sure every cat receives the care they deserve.

🐾 Remember Millie? 🐾
A few months ago, Millie was fighting for her life. She was one of our panleukopenia kittens, and her care cost more than $2,500.
There were moments we weren't sure she would make it.
Today, Millie is healthy, thriving, a little chunky, and spending her days grooming her best friend Clark. ❤️
This is why we fight so hard for every cat. This is why your donations matter. Every life saved has the potential for a happy ending just like this one.

🐾 Dolly Update! 🐾
We wanted to share an update on our special girl, Dolly.
The team at Oceana Veterinary Clinic has been working hard to save her leg. They have been keeping the wound clean and treating it with laser therapy to help promote healing and give her the best chance possible.
We are so grateful for the compassionate care and dedication they continue to provide.

Look at these faces! ❤️
These kittens have come such a long way.
After weeks of treatment, medicated baths, cleaning, and lots of TLC, our ringworm recovery crew is feeling great and enjoying life in the kitten room. They're playing, exploring, eating well, and soaking up every minute of kittenhood.
Every one of these little fighters has their own personality, and it's been amazing to watch them grow stronger each day.

🐾 OCAF NEEDS YOUR HELP - INTAKES ARE OUTPACING OUR SPACE 🐾

Our phones and messages have been busy, and we currently have several pending intake and community cat situations that need support. We are at or near capacity, with only a couple of open kennels, so we need our village more than ever.

Here are some of the situations we're working on:

🔹 Shelby Trails Project An apartment complex with multiple unspayed feral cats and at least two litters of kittens living outside. We need help trapping, transporting, fostering, and identifying community members who may be willing to assist on-site.

🔹 Walkerville Colony Active trapping is underway, but there are still numerous cats needing spay/neuter and kittens that need to be rescued before they become too old to socialize.

🔹 Several families with moms and kittens We have multiple requests for help involving moms with kittens, outdoor cats needing spay/neuter, and kittens needing placement into loving homes.

We Need:

🏠 Foster Homes Even one spare room, bathroom, or kennel space can save lives.

🐱 Trapping Volunteers We have several properties where cats need to be trapped for TNR and rescue.

🚗 Transportation Help Drivers are often needed for vet visits, spay/neuter appointments, and moving cats into foster homes.

🏢 Shelby Trails Volunteers Do you live at or near Shelby Trails? We'd love to hear from you. We need people who can help monitor cats, provide information, and assist with trapping efforts.

🥫 Kitten and Cat Food Donations We are going through food incredibly fast with the number of cats and kittens currently in our care and awaiting assistance.

💲 Monetary Donations Every dollar helps cover vaccines, deworming, spay/neuter surgeries, and emergency medical care.

🍳 Breakfast Time in the Romper Room! 🐾
Recovery looks pretty sweet when breakfast is involved!
After battling ringworm, these kittens are feeling better every day, and judging by this morning's feeding frenzy, they're making up for lost time. 😂

🌎 The Adventures of Cove & Selkie
Do you remember these two tiny CH Siamese kittens?
When they came to OCAF, Selkie didn't even weigh a pound, and Cove was only slightly bigger. Today, they're thriving at 5.5 and 5.7 pounds and living a life full of adventures.
❤️ Meet Selkie and Cove.
Selkie, the little girl, is blind in one eye and permanently sticks her tongue out. Despite every challenge life handed her, she never lets anything slow her down.
And Cove? He absolutely adores her. He rarely lets his sister out of his sight and is always nearby, making sure she's never alone.
Their adopters, Ravin and family, have built an incredible life around these two special kittens. They travel everywhere together in their cat stroller and car seat, joining the family on road trips across the country.
So far they've: 🐾 Explored waterfalls and gorges in New York 🐾 Visited the famous Thomas Dambo Trolls in Ohio 🐾 Taken countless road trips 🐾 Slept through miles and miles of car rides 🐾 Become beloved adventure companions
And they're just getting started. Next stop: Nantucket, Cape Cod, Salem, and more New England adventures!
For kittens that many people might have overlooked because of their CH, they've proven that disabilities do not define a life. They have a family who adores them, a world to explore, and each other every step of the way.
Every adoption story is special, but these two remind us that sometimes the tiniest kittens end up having the biggest adventures. ❤️
