Good News Friday ☀️ - YAP Charleston County, SC former program participant Kennedy successfully graduated high school in May and began exploring resources to help build employment skills and increase her independence. Over the summer, she also completed Camp Wanza, a two-week youth entrepreneurship program where she had an opportunity to learn about business. Kennedy's YAP Advocate/Program Site Supervisor Latoya Rivers said Kennedy became more confident, boosted her self-esteem, communication skills, and learned how to manage her emotions. 🌟 Day 3 Program Spotlight: Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) 🌟

Today we’re highlighting one of the most essential supports YAP provides to youth and families across Crawford County, Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS).

IBHS is a structured, individualized, in‑home and school‑based program designed to help children and adolescents build the skills, stability, and confidence they need to thrive. These services are rooted in YAP’s wraparound model and delivered directly where families need them most.

🔍 What IBHS Is & Why It Matters
IBHS provides Behavior Consultant (BC) services, Mobile Therapy (MT), and Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) support — all designed to help youth with mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral challenges.

IBHS is especially critical because 1 in 5 children ages 3–17 in the U.S. experience a mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral disorder — and early intervention changes long‑term outcomes.

💛 How IBHS Supports Youth & Families
Our IBHS team works directly with families to:

Build coping skills and emotional regulation

Improve communication and household routines

Address underlying behavioral challenges

Provide individualized treatment plans based on strengths and needs

Deliver services at home, school, or community — removing transportation barriers

From your document:

“Most services are delivered in the homes of participants, removing the need for transportation.”
“Plans are developed through a comprehensive intake and assessment process… identifying needed services and supports in multiple life domain areas.”

IBHS is designed to meet families where they are — literally and emotionally.

📈 The Impact of IBHS
IBHS helps youth:

Strengthen emotional and behavioral stability

Improve school functioning and attendance

Reduce crisis behaviors

Increase family engagement and consistency

Build long‑term skills that support independence

💙 Why Your Donation Matters Today
IBHS is life‑changing, but it is also resource‑intensive.
If people donate during Crawford Gives, we can continue operating programs like this — programs that deliver therapy, skills training, crisis support, and wraparound care directly to families who need it most.

🌟 Day 2 Program Spotlight: YAP Truancy Program 🌟

Gearing up for Crawford Gives 2026!

Today we’re highlighting the heart of our Truancy Program—the why behind our work and the impact it has on youth and families across Crawford County.

🔍 Why Truancy Matters
Chronic absenteeism is linked to:

Increased risk of delinquency

Higher likelihood of dropping out

Greater chances of substance use

Higher rates of social isolation

Long‑term impacts on employment, stability, and well‑being

Across Pennsylvania, chronic absenteeism reached 26% last school year—making early intervention more important than ever.

💛 How YAP Supports Youth & Families
Our Truancy Team uses a structured, relationship‑driven model to help students build consistency and confidence:

Morning Accountability

Parental Engagement & Support

Academic Assistance

Community Linkages & Mentorship

We don’t just help students get to school—we help them build routines, skills, and connections that last long after the program ends.

📈 Our Impact
More than 70% of youth in our program show:

Significant increases in school attendance

Fewer suspensions

Stronger connections to positive community outlets

This is the kind of change your support helps make possible.

💙 Join Us for Crawford Gives
Your contribution helps us continue providing consistent, compassionate, and effective support to youth who need it most.

Stay tuned for Day 3 of our Program Spotlight on Monday!
