Meadowview Arts Center Meadowview Arts Center provides opportunities for the public to engage with and learn from local artists as they create, display, and sell their work.

Southwest Virginia is quickly becoming the focal point for the artisan culture of middle Appalachia. The region is an international destination for collectors of high-quality, hand-crafted works that speak to the area’s history and cultural allure. As the artisan economy of Southwest Virginia blossoms, so do the demands for locations where artists can create and retail their works. In Meadowview, along Interstate 81, the main travel corridor of Southwest Virginia, the Meadowview Art Center provides opportunities for artists to engage with art lovers as they work on, display, and sell their creations. Locals can also take advantage of a variety of art classes and workshops by both resident and guest artists. The Center is located in Meadowview, VA in the beautiful renovated Meadowview Train Depot. The attractive, historic facility includes artist studios and classroom and retail space, as well as a glass studio and full pottery studio with kiln, wheels, slab roller, and more.

The MAC would like to introduce you to Chil & Howie, two brothers and best friends since the stoneware ages. These aren't your ordinary garden gnomes, no siree! Made and raised in the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, these two are on a mission to highlight our area's unique beauty, culture, and our small businesses. Keep an eye out for them as you never gnome (see what we did there?) where they are going to show up!

Their first adventure was getting familiar with Meadowview Arts Center in Chilhowie, they enjoyed learning about pottery and supervised a stained glass class. They also got to hang out with Fred, our resident Patriotic Gnome. Next adventure was a wonderful Cookie at the best Subway in Southwest Virginia which is located at 160 Hwy 107 in Chilhowie Virginia. They both agreed that the Macadamia Nut cookie was fantastic! Stay tuned for further adventures! Guesses as to where they will pop up soon?

*Meadowview Arts Center Stained Glass Repair Commission*

Yes, we repair stained glass! Come see us if you need a project repaired.

Today's stained glass repair was on an older stained glass kaleidoscope biplane. Susan Shiflett Powers repaired the tail rudder, reattached the landing gear, and straightened out the propeller disks, she did an overall cleaning too. 🙂
