Effective July 1, Sierra Regional EMS (SREMS), under the direction of Plumas District Hospital (PDH), will assume responsibility for air and ground ambulance service operations in Lassen County and ground ambulance operations in Plumas County. As part of this initiative, PDH, in collaboration with its regional partners, is committed to strengthening and coordinating emergency medical services throughout Lassen and Plumas counties.

The transition retained the current SEMSA EMS staff who have faithfully served Lassen County for the past 21 years, ensuring continuity of care while supporting a unified regional approach to delivering reliable, high-quality emergency medical services to the communities we serve.

Sierra Regional EMS represents a significant step forward in strengthening emergency medical services across our area. By building on the expertise of our experienced EMS professionals and working alongside our regional partners, we are committed to maintaining seamless service during this transition while creating a sustainable, collaborative model that will serve our communities well into the future.

Please refer to the attached FAQ for additional information and answers to any questions you may have. We appreciate your continued support as we work together to enhance emergency medical services throughout the region.

This page, along with all previous social media accounts run by SEMSA, will continue to operate under the Sierra Regional EMS name.

Once again, Meadow Valley Fire Department is proud to celebrate the 4th of July by hosting our annual parade and potluck picnic.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, all residential burn permits within Lassen, Modoc and Plumas Counties will be suspended due to the increased fire danger throughout the region.

Thank you to the U.C. Forestry Camp in Meadow Valley for inviting and hosting members of the Meadow Valley Fire Department (MVFD) this past Tuesday for a valuable and enjoyable educational event.

MVFD personnel had the opportunity to share information about our department and volunteer program, answer students’ questions, and provide tours of our fire engines and equipment.

We greatly appreciate the students’ enthusiasm, engagement, and thoughtful questions. It is always a pleasure to participate in this annual event, and we look forward to continuing this partnership in the future.

Important news and update for Meadow Valley Fire Department to our wonderful and supportive community — and a heartfelt thank you to the California Fire Foundation and CAL FIRE! 🚒🔥

Last fall, our department received two wildfire safety grants that together allowed us to outfit all 14 of our volunteers with updated personal protective equipment and communications gear — helmets, gloves, goggles, pants, shirts, and radios. We recently received the last of these items. For an all-volunteer department like ours, this has been a game changer.

Those of us who lived through the North Complex and Dixie Fires know firsthand what wildfire means in Plumas County. Our community sits between the footprints of both fires, surrounded by the dense forests of the Plumas National Forest. When the next fire comes — and in wildfire country, there is always a next fire — we want our volunteers going in with gear that fits, protects, and meets modern safety standards. Thanks to these grants, they will.

The CFF grant is part of a partnership with the PG&E Foundation that last year awarded $950,000 in wildfire safety funding across the region, including to five Plumas County organizations. We are proud to be among them.

To our community: your volunteer fire department is here, we are trained, and now we are better equipped than ever. To CFF, the PG&E Foundation, and CAL FIRE: thank you for investing in the people who protect Meadow Valley.

MVFD would like to congratulate department members Ethan Hughbanks and Cedar Poste on their graduation from this year’s Quincy Fire Academy.

Throughout the academy, students received hands-on training in many important firefighting skills, including firefighter safety, fire behavior, extrication, water supply, ladder operations, and more. After six Saturdays of intensive instruction, participants put their knowledge and skills to the test in a timed relay race.

We are proud to announce that Ethan and Cedar not only completed the academy successfully, but also earned first place in the relay race along with other awards. Congratulations to both of them on this outstanding accomplishment!

MVFD would like to thank Quincy Volunteer Fire Department for hosting and providing this invaluable learning experience for our future firefighters along with the many volunteer instructors who took time out of their busy schedules to teach these students.
