The McRae Rotary Club proudly congratulates Bo Rogers and Joley Williams on being selected to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) this summer in Brunswick, Georgia.

Bo Rogers has demonstrated outstanding leadership through his service as Student Council President, where he has led school-wide initiatives, organized events, and fostered school spirit. His role as a student liaison and community volunteer, along with his ability to bring people together and manage large projects, reflects his strong organizational skills, initiative, and commitment to serving others.

Joley Williams exemplifies servant leadership through her involvement in numerous organizations, including Drum Major of the TCHS Band and a leader in FCA and Beta Club. She has dedicated herself to encouraging others, organizing service efforts, and actively contributing to her school and community through mentoring, outreach, and leadership roles.

Both Bo and Joley are members of Interact Club of Telfair County High School and have shown a passion for leadership, service, and making a positive impact in their community. We are confident they will represent McRae with excellence at RYLA.

April is Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention month! Help us plant a Pinwheel Garden Telfair County High School to raise funds for TLC CASA!!

The TLC CASA Program provides community-based advocacy that promotes safety and permanency for children who are victims of abuse and neglect. Trained and supervised volunteers, in cases assigned by the juvenile court judge, center the focus of the case upon the child, giving the child a voice in the proceedings.

Their Supervised Visitation Centers provide neutral, child-friendly facilities where children who are in out of home living situations due to abuse and severe neglect can spend quality time with their birth families. Children are able to maintain their connections with siblings, parents, and relatives who are important to them, and parents are supported in improving their parenting skill sets and are encouraged to work on reunification case plan goals.

The program further advocates resources for children and families involved in dependency proceedings and promotes community awareness of the problems and solutions to child abuse and neglect.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, TLC Children’s Services relies on grants and donations to fund all of their programs.

Read Across America Day is one of our favorite service projects! We love seeing the next generation of Rotarians in action, serving beside “the big club.”

Our club welcomed its first guest speaker at our January 21st meeting. Mr. Harry Stevenson, Southeast Georgia Project Coordinator for the Partners in Prevention Project, joined us to share his story and the importance of educating young people about the dangers of alcohol use. We look forward to working with Harry beyond Red Ribbon Week to raise awareness in our school and community.

We were proud to sponsor Rilyn when she wanted to study abroad, and we’re thrilled to see she is having the experience of a lifetime! Follow her adventures here.

The idea that I have been living a completely different life in another country for three whole months is utterly surreal. Time is slipping by quickly, and sometimes it makes me sad to think eventually I will step away from a life I have cultivated and grown to love here. In fact, I recently joked t...

We’re so proud to be the sponsor of Interact Club of Telfair County High School!!

Already, these young people are hard at work volunteering with special needs children and hosting Red Ribbon Week at the high school. They’ll also be at the Fall Festival this Thursday with games and candy ready for the kids!

This new club is off to a great start embodying our Rotary motto of Service Above Self! We can’t wait to see what else they accomplish this year.
