The Tool Library will be closed this afternoon, as high temps move through our area.

When it's 90+ degrees out, it's just too hot in our little tool library for our volunteers and members.

All tools due today will be renewed for another week.

Stay cool - stay safe. We should be open Saturday morning regular hours. We'll keep you updated.

Our second Repair Fair is in the books, and somehow we managed to make an even bigger impact than the first one.

At first glance, we repaired fewer items this time around, but this event looked a little different.

Instead of lots of clothing mending and smaller fixes, this month brought us bigger, more complex repairs: bikes, lamps, small appliances, kitchen mixers, and all kinds of household items that otherwise may have ended up in the trash.

In just a few hours:
40 items repaired
~600 pounds of waste kept out of the landfill
~$5,000 saved by community members who didn’t have to replace their items
~4 metric tons of CO₂ emissions avoided

So while the item count was a little lower than our first event, the overall impact was actually even greater.

And just like last time, one of our favorite parts was seeing people gather around repairs, ask questions, learn how things work, and connect with neighbors they might not have otherwise met. There’s something really special about watching repair become a community activity instead of just throwing something away and buying new.

Huge thanks again to our incredible volunteer fixers who continue to share their time and knowledge, to everyone who brought in something to repair, and to everyone helping us prove that repair culture is alive and well in our community.

And of course, thank you again to for being such an amazing host. And thank you Bunny Belly Bagels and for providing bagels and coffee to our volunteers.

Two Repair Fairs down. Definitely not the last. Keep saving those broken things. We’ll see you at the next one! 🔧♻️

Ready to level up your carving skills?

Join local woodworker Christopher Knapp for a hands-on wood carving workshop where you’ll carve your own wooden spoon from start to finish. This 3-hour class is designed for beginner to intermediate carvers. It’s a great next step if you joined our Comfort Bird class or if you’re ready to try your first functional carving project.

You’ll learn carving techniques, sharpening, and finishing skills while creating a beautiful spoon to take home and use for years to come.

All participants receive a carving kit to keep, including a knife, strop, honing compound, sandpaper, and finishing oil. Everything you need to continue carving at home.

📍 Bierly Brewing
🕥 Saturday, May 23 at 10:30am

Class size is limited, so grab your ticket early. Link in bio!

Huge thanks to The Merri Artist for helping us outfit this class with carving supplies and supporting community learning.

Happy Earth Day from MTL!

At the McMinnville Tool Library, sustainability isn’t just a once-a-year thing, it’s what we’re built on. Sharing tools means fewer resources used, less waste, and more community-powered solutions.

Borrow instead of buy. Fix instead of toss. Build instead of waste.

Reduce, reuse, recycle… together.
