Ready to level up your carving skills?

Join local woodworker Christopher Knapp for a hands-on wood carving workshop where you’ll carve your own wooden spoon from start to finish. This 3-hour class is designed for beginner to intermediate carvers. It’s a great next step if you joined our Comfort Bird class or if you’re ready to try your first functional carving project.

You’ll learn carving techniques, sharpening, and finishing skills while creating a beautiful spoon to take home and use for years to come.

All participants receive a carving kit to keep, including a knife, strop, honing compound, sandpaper, and finishing oil. Everything you need to continue carving at home.

📍 Bierly Brewing
🕥 Saturday, May 23 at 10:30am

Class size is limited, so grab your ticket early. Link in bio!

Huge thanks to The Merri Artist for helping us outfit this class with carving supplies and supporting community learning.

Happy Earth Day from MTL!

At the McMinnville Tool Library, sustainability isn’t just a once-a-year thing, it’s what we’re built on. Sharing tools means fewer resources used, less waste, and more community-powered solutions.

Borrow instead of buy. Fix instead of toss. Build instead of waste.

Reduce, reuse, recycle… together.

POWER OUTAGE UPDATE!

We will be resuming our normal open hours, effective immediately. If you need to borrow tools and/or make returns, come by and see us this evening from 5:30-7pm.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience our closure last Saturday may have caused.

We look forward to seeing you at the Tool Library 😊

Tool Librarians are the friendly people who check tools in and out, welcome neighbors into the space, and help keep the tool library running smoothly.

You don’t need any tool knowledge to volunteer. If you enjoy meeting people, supporting your community, and being part of something positive, you’ll do great.

And honestly, it’s a really fun volunteer role. You’ll hear about all kinds of projects happening around town and help make DIY more accessible for everyone.

Last year, hundreds of neighbors borrowed tools instead of buying them — saving money, reducing waste, and getting projects done. None of that happens without volunteers behind the desk.

We’re looking for more Tool Librarians not only to support our current hours, but to help us open more days and expand access to tools for the community.

Send us a PM or email ([email protected]) to learn more about becoming a Tool Librarian.

Our very first Repair Fair was everything we hoped it would be, and more!

In just a few hours:
47 items were repaired
~300 pounds of waste kept out of the landfill
~$3,850 saved by neighbors who didn’t have to replace their items
~2 metric tons of CO₂ emissions avoided

And beyond the numbers, it was just a really good day for building community. People stuck around to watch their items get fixed, asked questions, and learned new things. Neighbors connected and got to know each other. And our fixers did what they do best — troubleshooting, teaching, and getting things working again.

Hearing so many of you ask how soon we’re doing this again was the clearest sign we needed. We don’t have a date on the calendar yet, but one thing is certain after this weekend: this won’t be the last Repair Fair.

Thank you to every volunteer fixer, every person who brought something in, everyone who donated, and everyone who cheered us on. You’re helping build a repair culture in this community; one saved microwave, bike, sweater, and lamp at a time.

And special thanks to Ricochet Wine Company for providing the space, wine, and good vibes!

Start setting aside your broken things.
