The Next Generation of Leaders Is Already Leading!

What a wonderful way to begin a new school year! Our George C. Marshall High School Interact Club officially held its first meeting of the year, and I had the great honor and privilege of presenting these outstanding young leaders with their Club Excellence Award in recognition of everything they accomplished last year. I could not be prouder of them! There is something truly inspiring about watching the next generation step forward, take charge, develop new ideas, and embrace Service Above Self. These students aren't simply the leaders and Rotarians of tomorrow—they are already making a difference today. Seeing their enthusiasm, compassion, and commitment to serving others gives us tremendous hope for the future. Congratulations to our Marshall Interactors—we can't wait to see what you accomplish this year! 💙💛

The future of service is bright—and it is already in good hands.

Rotary Connects Us Across the World 🇦🇺🇺🇸

What a wonderful surprise to receive this special piece of Rotary history from the Rotary Club of Maclean, Australia! Even more meaningful is seeing that it was originally presented to the Rotary Club of Tysons Corner, Virginia, along with greetings and the signatures of their members. I am truly thankful for reminders like this of what makes Rotary so special. Thousands of miles may separate our clubs, but our shared commitment to service, friendship, and international understanding connects us as one Rotary family. As President of Tysons Rotary, it means so much to me to see these connections carried across countries and generations. This is Rotary at its best—building friendships without borders and reminding us that wherever we go in the world, we are never far from a fellow Rotarian. 💙💛🌍

Rotary connects. Friendship endures. Service brings us together.

We Will Never Forget. 🇺🇸

As we marked the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, our Tysons Rotary family gathered not simply for a meeting, but for a time of remembrance, reflection, and connection. Together, we shared our personal stories and memories of that day, mourned those we lost, honored the first responders and countless heroes who served and sacrificed, and reflected on how September 11 changed our lives and our world.

Moments like this remind us of what makes our club more than just an organization—it makes us a family. Rotary gives us a place where we can serve together, but also a place where we can be vulnerable, share some of our deepest emotions and memories, listen to one another, and help each other heal.

Twenty-five years later, the pain and lessons of September 11 remain with us. May we continue to honor those we lost by choosing compassion over hatred, unity over division, and service over indifference.

We remember. We honor. We heal together. And we will never forget.

Raising Awareness: Transnational Human Trafficking

The Rotary Club of Tysons was honored to welcome Tim Gill as our guest speaker at our recent bi-weekly breakfast meeting. Tim delivered a powerful and eye-opening presentation on Transnational Human Trafficking, helping our members better understand the realities of human trafficking and the importance of education, awareness, and prevention.

What made his presentation especially meaningful was learning about the incredible work Tim is doing with students at George C. Marshall High School. By engaging and educating young people about human trafficking, he is helping students recognize the warning signs, understand how trafficking can affect communities, and become better informed advocates for themselves and others.

As Rotarians, we believe that lasting change often begins with awareness and education. Tim’s dedication to empowering the next generation is a wonderful example of how one person’s commitment can create a ripple effect throughout an entire community.

Thank you, Tim, for joining us, for sharing your knowledge and experience, and most importantly, for the amazing work you are doing with our young people. We are grateful to have passionate community leaders like you helping make a difference.

Together, through education and awareness, we can help protect vulnerable people and build stronger, safer communities.

Back to School with Westlawn Elementary!

Tysons Rotary was honored to be invited to the annual Welcome to Westlawn Event, a special back-to-school gathering that brings together parents, families, and the community organizations that support Westlawn Elementary throughout the year.

As part of our ongoing collaboration with Brigade of Mercy, which generously funded the backpacks, Tysons Rotary was proud to donate 50 fully stocked backpacks to Westlawn students to help them start the new school year prepared and ready to learn.

Our relationship with Westlawn will go far beyond one event. Through projects such as birthday book donations, after-school programs, classroom book readings, literacy initiatives, and other hands-on service projects, we are grateful to continue supporting this wonderful school community throughout the year.

A very special thank you to the amazing teachers and staff at Westlawn Elementary for everything they do for their students and families. Their dedication inspires us, and we are so happy to play even a small part in supporting their work.

And thank you to Brigade of Mercy for being such a wonderful partner in service. Together, we can make a greater impact! ❤️
