The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) has announced the formation of its advisory committee, which will play an important role in our mission to promote evidence-based best practices for .

These experts, which include former regulators, responsible gaming researchers, and problem gambling clinicians, will provide critical, independent insight into the latest trends impacting responsible gaming and how they impact ROGA’s work.

The four members of the committee are former Director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement David Rebuck, Former Chair of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission Cathy Judd-Stein, Executive Director of the Tennessee Institute for Gambling Education and Research Dr. James Whelan, and Washington State University Assistant Professor Dr. Kahlil Philander.

Members of the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) spoke yesterday at Global Gaming Expo (G2E) about ROGA’s commitment to prioritize player protection across the industry and increase engagement with responsible gaming tools. The panel featured Dr. Jennifer Shatley, executive director of ROGA, Richard Taylor, Director of Responsible Gambling at BetMGM, Alison Kutler, Head of Responsible Gaming and Community Impact at FanDuel, and Lori Kalani, Chief Responsible Gaming Officer at DraftKings.

On RG tools, Dr. Shatley said, “These programs are designed for all players, not just for those with gambling problems.”

Dr. Jennifer Shatley, executive director of the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA), recently sat down with SBC Americas to discuss ROGA’s recent announcement of its national college education campaign launching in early 2025. This initiative, in partnership with EPIC Global Solutions, Kindbridge Behavioral Health , and Responsible Gambling Council - RGC, aims to deliver responsible gaming and financial literacy education tailored to the unique needs of college-aged students across the country.

“College-age people, this is an audience that is either already engaged in sports betting or online gaming or largely will be in the near future,” Shatley said. “It’s an important audience, one that’s been mainly overlooked up until this program, in my belief.”

According to a NCAA survey, 27.5% of college students have placed an online sports bet. To provide college students with responsible gaming resources, the Responsible Online Gaming Association will create and implement a comprehensive, evidence-based RG college education campaign, launching in early 2025, in partnership with EPIC Global Solutions, Kindbridge Behavioral Health , and Responsible Gambling Council - RGC. The campaign will leverage digital delivery tools to provide RG and financial literacy education to students across diverse campuses and demographics throughout the U.S whether they choose to engage in gaming or not.

“One of our mission pillars is education and awareness campaigns in general. We want to do that across a diverse audience, so different campaigns will connect to and resonate with different audiences. [College-aged students are] an important demographic. This is where we wanted to start, especially knowing that there really aren’t a lot of resources out there for this age group.”

The Responsible Online Gaming Association Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Shatley recently spoke with the Las Vegas Review-Journal on ROGA’s development of a national RG college education campaign launching in early 2025. In partnership with EPIC Global Solutions , Kindbridge Behavioral Health, and Responsible Gambling Council - RGC, the RG college education program will be specifically tailored to the unique needs of university-aged students and will create digital delivery tools to provide RG and financial literacy education to students across diverse campuses and demographics.

“There’s been some great programs that have been implemented over the past couple of years that focus specifically on student athletes, but there’s really been very few resources currently available for that broader university student age population,” Dr. Shatley said. “And so that’s what we’re looking to do is to fill that gap and really provide these much-needed information and resources to that broader student population.”
