They honored our club and thanks to members, Karen, Trish, and Kimberly (left to right) for being there to represent us.

It was a rainy weekend for Art Walk, but our NDWC volunteers persevered in assisting with Children’s Art Walk! Thanks to lead Jane for organizing us, and in member Karen’s words: “Many hands made for light work. Kudos to Kitty and Jane for keeping us all on task!”

Adopt a Highway

Join us this Saturday!
Oct 3, 2026
8 am - approximately 9:30 am

Meet in the parking lot of Lutheran Redeemer Church on the Westmoreland side.

Reminder: bring your gardening gloves, trash bags will be provided.

NDWC is proud to partner with the Virginia Department of Transportation to participate in adopt-a-highway!

Twice a year we gather to maintain and clean a stretch of Westmoreland Road in our community of Mclean.

Thank you to our Chair Monica, who organizes the cleanings, and to our sweet volunteers who work hard to clear the debris and recycle recyclables. As Monica says, “This simple, one-hour effort makes a big difference for our community—and it’s always fun with friends!”

Second Story has invited interested NDWC members to attend its annual fundraiser:

The Beacon of Hope Breakfast
Thursday, October 15th, 2026
8AM to 9AM

This year’s theme is Hold the Door Open for Hope.

For 54 years, Second Story has worked to open doors for young people experiencing homelessness, families in crisis, survivors of violence, and neighbors living at or below the poverty line. The breakfast is Second Story’s only major fundraising event of the year, a time when the community comes together to hear inspiring stories from program participants, staff, and volunteers.

Please visit Second Story’s website to register. For any questions, contact NDWC member Trish.

⭐️NDWC is your source for supporting Charitable Community Events!⭐️

Rise Against Hunger is an organization that fights hunger through a significant meal packing program.

The McLean event will be on:

Saturday, November 7, 2026
8 am shift
Lutheran Church of the Redeemer

NDWC will be participating during the 8:00 AM shift. We gather at 7:50 AM on Saturday, November 7, in front of Redeemer Lutheran Church in our NDWC t-shirts (or pink and green) for a group photo before participating in a shift. Grab a hairnet, find your station, and get ready to make an impact! Together, we’ll package nutritious meals that help fuel communities around the world. It’s a fun, fast-moving experience where every meal you package brings us one step closer to ending hunger.

You’re part of a global movement working to create a world where all people have the nourishment they need to thrive.
