🗓️ Join us tomorrow for our September meeting! You won’t want to miss this one.
Paul McCray, a historian for NOVA Parks, will speak at the meeting. His job is to find and share the stories of the people who lived on the land before they became parks.
Eleven years before Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white person, eight Howard University women had been picnicking at a farm which became Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, VA.
After boarding a bus to return to school the four junior and senior students refused to give up their seats in the front and move to the back. The year was 1944.
Come hear the story of their brave actions and the recent memorial placed at Meadowlark Gardens.
