We were absolutely thrilled to welcome AJ Micheletto with the Burress Community Foundation as our featured speaker! She shared the heart driving their work — a deeply rooted belief in changing lives right here in McKinney! 🦁

The Burress Community Foundation was founded in 2022 by Jason Burress of Burress Law PLLC to expand the firm's scholarships and nonprofit support. Because the law firm fully covers all operational and event costs (and matches public donations dollar-for-dollar), 100% of community donations go directly to local impact!

Heart for impact:
🟪 Our brave first responders
🟪 Grants for area nonprofits
🟪 Scholarship programs, which lift up students connected to the firm and foundation community, including local families, volunteers, and partners.

🎗️ MEF Top Model Challenge 🎗️
Jason Burress is competing as one of nine local CEOs in the McKinney Education Foundations challenge to raise vital funds for student education! Check out his fundraising page: https://secure.qgiv.com/event/theceochallenge2026/account/2384439/.

Twenty-five years of remembrance. 🇺🇸

The McKinney Lions Club stood proudly with our community this morning to mark 25 years since the events of 9/11.

9/11 Reflection Corner:
🚥 The ages of those who died ranged from 2 to 85 years old. The youngest was a 2-year-old girl on United Flight 175; the oldest was an 85-year-old grandfather on American Flight 11.
🚥 The tragedy left nearly 3,000 children without a parent.

Thank you to our police and fire departments for leading us in reflection today.

Today, we pause the noise of everyday life to sit in the solemn quiet of the 25th anniversary of 9/11. 🇺🇸

We remember the panic, the bravery, the sirens, and the devastating loss of life at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Twenty-five years later, the grief of that day still commands our utmost respect and reverence.

The McKinney Lions Club invites our neighbors to take a quiet moment today to reflect, to honor the fallen, and to remember that life is fragile. May we never take our freedom, our safety, or each other for granted. 🕊️

This Friday is the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The McKinney Fire and Police Departments are having a remembrance ceremony. The public is invited to attend. We hope to see you there. 🇺🇸

⭐ 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Ceremony ⭐

While others naturally run away from danger, our firefighters, police officers, and first responders are trained to run toward it. They risk everything to protect people they have never even met.

This Friday marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. We are coming together to honor the incredible courage of the heroes who answered the call that day, as well as those who continue to serve and protect our McKinney community every single day.

The McKinney Fire Department, McKinney Police Department, and Leadership McKinney Alumni Network invite the entire public to attend this remembrance ceremony.

What a wonderful day at the McKinney Lions Club! We were honored to host Shannon White with GraceToChange, a truly life-changing non-profit providing vital substance use evaluations and outpatient treatment right here in our city. 🦁

Shannon shared the heavy but hopeful reality of their daily mission. GraceToChange conducts 250 substance abuse evaluations per year, acting as a crucial safety net for individuals facing the pressures of poverty and the legal system. She reminded us that real transformation often begins when people become uncomfortable enough to seek change—and that’s exactly where GraceToChange steps in to catch them.

We are incredibly proud to support an organization that refuses to let anyone fall through the cracks, offering a pathway toward hope, healing, and lasting recovery.

🎂 Big Celebration: A massive congratulations to Shannon White, who celebrated 19 years of sobriety last week! Thank you for leading by beautiful example.

📣 EXCITING Lions Club News Alert! 📣

Our passion for service is officially spreading to our neighbors up north! 🦁

The McKinney Noon Lions Club is proudly sponsoring the brand-new Van Alstyne and Anna Lions Club. They already have 17 passionate, service-minded founding members. However, they need just 3 more members to hit the official total of 20 required to launch their club.

To help them hit the ground running, we are hosting them at our upcoming service projects. They will be learning the ropes, seeing how we set up a club, and watching our team in action. They are especially excited to learn how we run our kindergarten vision screenings so they can bring that vital service to their own school district!

Do you know anyone in the Van Alstyne area looking to give back, make lifelong friends, and serve their community? Tag them below or send them our way! Let’s help Van Alstyne reach the finish line!!! 🏆💛

"We Serve" — a motto that country music icon and humanitarian Dolly Parton lived by every single day. 🦁

Like Lions around the world, Dolly dedicated her life to uplifting others, making her recent passing (at age 80) a deeply felt loss for our community. Beyond the rhinestones and legendary music, she was the ultimate champion for children's literacy. Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, she gifted over 300 million books to children worldwide, fostering a love for reading that mirrors our own dedication to local youth and community development.

Her family has requested that those wishing to honor her memory do so by supporting her favorite cause. Let's keep her spirit of boundless generosity alive right here in McKinney.

📚 Honor Her Legacy: Consider making a donation to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (https://imaginationlibrary.com/).
💬 Share Your Memories: Leave a tribute message on her website (https://www.dollyparton.com/).
🍦 Local McKinney Tribute: Stop by The Stix Icehouse in McKinney on September 2nd for Dolly-themed music bingo and a special charity drink benefiting her literacy foundation.

Rest in peace, Dolly Parton. Your kindness will always be an inspiration to Lions across the world. 🕊️✨
