What you're seeing here is more than merchandise. It's a community growing around a mission: raising $2.5 million to save children's lives.

This movement is powered by families who refuse to accept the status quo. Families turning heartache into purpose. Countless hours spent advocating, organizing, and fundraising. Fighting for their children and for children they've never even met.

These shirts are just one small piece of something much bigger.

Thank you for helping us turn hope into action đź’š

There is no one way families face rare disease.

Some days feel heavy with fear or exhaustion. Other days are full of laughter, joy, and moments we hold onto extra tightly. Parents keep showing up through all of it and carry more than most people will ever fully see.

If you are a parent in this community, we hope you know you do not have to do everything to make a difference to advance a treatment. Sharing these posts matters. Telling your own story matters. Supporting each other matters.

If you feel called to do more, we invite you to start a One Shot to Live fundraising page. Every effort helps move this work forward and reminds families they are not alone.

Today we are sharing a new review paper, 170 Years of Mitochondrial Research and the Emergence of Mitochondrial Medicine, by Dr. Volkmar Weissig, published in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.

Some key takeaways are:
🔬 Mitochondria are far more than the “powerhouse of the cell” — they also play important roles in immunity, cell signaling, aging, and cell death.

🧬 Mitochondrial diseases are especially complex because of unique features of mitochondrial DNA, including heteroplasmy and maternal inheritance.

🏥 Primary mitochondrial diseases can affect many organ systems and often require long diagnostic journeys involving multiple specialists and genetic testing.

đź’Š While treatment development is accelerating, most current therapies are not curative, highlighting the ongoing need for root-cause and gene-level approaches.
