Happy 87th birthday to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Established on June 23, 1939, originally as the Coast Guard Reserve before being renamed the Auxiliary in 1941, this volunteer arm of the U.S. Coast Guard has spent nearly nine decades supporting boating safety, search and rescue, environmental protection, and homeland security across America's waterways.
Today, the Auxiliary has roughly 21,000 volunteer members across the country, contributing more than 2 million hours of service every year. They are not paid. They serve because they believe in the mission. That kind of commitment looks familiar to anyone in this association.
Your service matters.
