The Warrior's Keep

The Warrior's Keep The Warrior's Keep mission is to unite, empower and enhance the quality of life for veterans with the use of outdoor adventure and recreational therapies.

The Warrior's Keep is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization whose intention is to aid Veterans in the transition back to civilian life after active duty. We are an organization founded and operated by military Veterans. All Veterans were trained to go to war but never trained to come back home. Through reintegration therapies and group activities our mission is to fill a part of every Vet

eran's life that was left behind after active duty service. The sense of purpose and camaraderie we all felt when we served is the driving force behind The Warrior's Keep! For more information about us, visit www.thewarriorskeep.org

Meet Nick. He is a 20 year veteran of the Army National Guard. Since being out of service, he's experienced the full range of mental health challenges to include suicidal ideations, depression, anxiety, but mainly: loneliness. He's struggled to transition fully to civilian life without having fellow veterans to connect with.

Nick's experience at Wheeler Peak was underscored by camaraderie, familiar values, common struggles and the team achievement of overcoming the physical challenge of the mountain. Connecting with other veterans in this environment was deeply meaningful for him.

Loren is a 24 year veteran of the U.S. Army having served primarily in the III Armored Corps. After a long career, he retired with a classification of "unemployable."

He cited several challenges for veterans. After struggling with his own marriage, and seeing other vets do the same, he believes relationships suffer from being deployed for so long. He also believes the "life or death" mindset is a battle many veterans continue to fight for the rest of their lives.

Loren told us that it was therapeutic to connect with other vets and share the stories that many cannot share with civilians.

Help us continue to achieve these positive outcomes for our veterans. Please sponsor Loren or make even a small donation. Visit our PayPal to make a donation: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=3YH7JAEYZYXLA&source=url&ssrt=1782243234660

Meet Stephen. He is an Army veteran and a single father. Since completing his service, he has struggled with finding a job that he can do physically and mentally every day. But, he hasn't given up. He's made a career switch into HR and exploring new opportunities.

He's witnessed other veterans struggle with isolation, homelessness, and su***de. It means a lot to him that organizations like The Warrior's Keep care enough to organize outdoor adventures where veterans can connect. And he really enjoyed the challenge and memories of Wheeler Peak.

Last weekend, The Warrior's Keep led one of our staple expeditions up Wheeler Peak, the highest peak in New Mexico. The expedition was a success with all veterans reaching the summit and returning back home feeling better than when they started. Stay tuned for more photos and stories of the adventure.

Please consider a donation to support our mission to provide Outdoor Adventure Therapy for our Heroes. Any amount helps support our programs. Link is in profile.

Special thanks to TUPPS Brewery for sponsoring this expedition; Jack Dangers for photography; David Hamrick for guiding the expedition; and Huts For Vets for cooking. This was an outstanding collaboration.

Ron is an Army veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom II. After returning home from the war, he struggled with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Having turned a corner, Ron has since dedicated his life to sharing his lived experiences with others. He works as a Certified Recovery Support Specialist for NAMI. He believes the greatest challenges facing veterans are asking for help and leaving behind the intense mindset required to survive in combat. He says spending time in nature has been integral in his own mental health recovery and adapting to civilian life.

Please support Ron and our mission to provide Outdoor Adventure Therapy for Heroes. Even a small donation helps. Click this link to make even a small donation: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=3YH7JAEYZYXLA&source=url
