The blue badge is coming. But first — the journey begins.

This past week the McKinney Rotary Club celebrated several of our newest members as they completed their classification presentations — one of the meaningful milestones on the path to earning that blue badge and becoming a full-fledged Rotarian.

The classification presentation is more than a formality. It is the moment a new member stands before the club, shares who they are, what they do, and what they bring to this community. It is the moment we truly begin to know each other — and it never gets old.

To our newest members working their way through the process — we see you. We are watching your journey with excitement and we cannot wait to stand alongside you at your first service project, your first Paul Harris recognition, your first moment of realizing that this club has changed you.

That moment is coming. And it will be worth every step.

Today we pause. We remember. We honor.

On this Memorial Day, the McKinney Rotary Club pays tribute to every man and woman who gave their life in service to this country. Their sacrifice is the reason we are free to gather, to serve, and to build the community we love.

The McKinney Rotary Club is proud to support our Flag Program — placing American flags in yards across our community as a visible, powerful reminder of the values we hold and the heroes we never forget.

A flag in the yard is more than decoration. It is a statement. It is gratitude made visible. It is a community saying together — we remember.

Today at the McKinney Rotary Club meeting, we recognized more Paul Harris Fellows — and we could not be prouder.
The Paul Harris Fellowship is not just a pin. It is a statement. It says that you believe in something bigger than yourself. That you are willing to invest — year after year — in a foundation that fights polio, funds scholarships, supports peace initiatives, and changes lives in communities around the world and right here in McKinney.

Behind every project, every grant, every service day, and every check presented to a nonprofit in need — there are people.

Our people.

The members of the McKinney Rotary Club are not here for the title or the pin. They are here because they genuinely care about this community and they are willing to put their time, their resources, and their presence behind that belief — every single week.
They show up on Saturday mornings to serve neighbors experiencing homelessness. They write checks to the Rotary Foundation year after year. They sit across from students and hand them scholarships that change the trajectory of a life. They pack hope kits for children whose families are fighting cancer. They mentor. They donate. They lead. They stay after the meeting to make sure the work actually gets done.

McKinney is a better place because of the people in this club. Not because of what Rotary is on paper — but because of who our members are in real life.
We are grateful for every single one of them.

The pictures say it all.
The McKinney Rotary Club was on the ground with Streetside Showers, Hope Restored Missions, St. Gabriel Catholic Community, and Van Alstyne Church of Christ — serving neighbors experiencing homelessness with dignity and care, made possible through a Rotary District 5810 - North Texas matching grant.

A special shoutout to our own Celeste Haiduk Cox, Betty Petkovsek, and Randy Routon for showing up in person, presenting the check, and seeing firsthand the incredible work Lance Olinski and the Streetside Showers team do every single day.
