He wasn’t asked to clean up. He simply cared. 🩷
Recently, while visiting one of our serving locations, I noticed one of our Friends in Transition picking up trash around the area.
I asked if he wanted a trash bag. He said yes and simply explained, “I just want it to look nice.”
That touched my heart. 🩷
There’s often a negative perception of our unhoused neighbors, especially when it comes to trash and the condition of public spaces.
But here’s a reminder: Being unhoused doesn’t mean you don’t care about your community.
This gentleman saw something that needed attention and took it upon himself to do something about it. No one asked. No one told him to. He simply cared.
I was grateful to witness this small but meaningful act of community pride.
Sometimes we need to look beyond someone’s circumstances and see their character.
Because dignity doesn’t require an address. 🩷
