The countdown is on....
A few snippets from our rehearsal thursday night for our concert on April 18, featuring music by Copland Hindemith, Puccini, and our very own Tom Evans. In addition to celebrating our 20th anniversary, we will also be celebrating Artistic Director/Conductor Jeremy Kondrat's 10th anniversary with us. And bring the kids for the instrument petting zoo at intermission, in partnership with McKinney's Music and Arts.

As we celebrate our 20th year of making music together as a band, we're sharing stories from 20 of our band members. In our third story, we introduce you to Tom Evans, our trumpet section leader, member of the McKinney Dance Band, and former board vice president and president. Thank you, Tom, for taking time to share this great story with us - the story of Artistic Director/Conductor Jeremy Kondrat joining our band 10 years ago. And thank you for your many years of involvement with MCB.

We're busy getting ready for our spring concert featuring music by Copland, Hindemith, Puccini, and a piece written by a band member.

Here are just a few snippets from Thursday's rehearsal. We're getting there! Huge thanks to one of our trombonists, Alan Harkey, for leading rehearsals the past two weeks.

As you know, we are celebrating our 20th season of the McKinney Community Band this year. There are so many great stories from our many members, volunteer musicians all, that we had to share some of them. (You may have seen the Dallas Winds doing this for their 40th Anniversary. We thought it was a great idea and decided to put our own spin on it.)

Who better to start with than our one and only remaining charter member who answered that first call in a newspaper article in 2006? Marsha Hope is our flute section leader, a past board president, current at-large board member, concert announcer, and founding member of the McKinney Flute Choir. We sat down last week to talk about the founding of the band and how she got involved. You'll see that video over on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/p/DUzjh7XDlIp/

In the version shared here, Marsha talks about what keeps her coming back every week.

Thank you so much, Marsha, for all you do and have done for our band!
