On Saturday, May 30th, Two Feathers and Q***r Humboldt proudly hosted the 6th Annual Rainbow Extravaganza! 🌈✨

With 13 incredible organizations, 2 amazing local food trucks, and more than 100 community members in attendance, we came together to celebrate the beginning of Pride Month and kick things off with joy, connection, and community spirit.

We want to send a huge shoutout and heartfelt appreciation to all of the organizations, volunteers, vendors, and community members who helped make this event such a success. Your support, enthusiasm, and presence made the day truly special.

A very special thank you goes to our wonderful co-host, Q***r Humboldt, for their continued partnership, collaboration, and unwavering support throughout the years. We are so grateful to work alongside such an amazing organization.

And last, but certainly not least, thank you to our incredible Two Feathers team. Your hard work, dedication, and love for this community helped create a memorable and meaningful celebration for everyone who attended.

Here's to another fantastic Pride season filled with love, visibility, joy, and community. Happy Pride, y'all! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ’–

🌟 Two Feathers Youth Advocates Take Action at the State Capitol! 🌟

On May 25–26, two youth from the Two Feathers K-12 Youth Advocacy Team traveled to Sacramento to join youth advocates from across California. During the two-day event, they connected with peers, practiced public speaking, and shared the mental health concerns impacting youth in their communities.

On the second day, they met with representatives from the offices of Mike McGuire, Megan Dahle, and Chris Rogers to discuss youth priorities, the implementation of the Behavioral Health Services Act, and proposed budget cuts to the Behavioral Health Commission.

The youth also stood alongside the Youth Leadership Institute and advocates from across the state at a press conference opposing these cuts and advocating for continued investment in youth mental health.

We are proud of these young leaders for using their voices to create change and ensure that youth perspectives are heard at the state level. πŸ’™

We are almost at the end of our first ever series of our SoHum Dishgharghirat girls cultural group! This group has been in collaboration with both the Wiyot Tribe and the Bear River band of Rohnerville Rancheria.

Huge shout out and thanks to:
✨ Our cultural consultant Rachel Sundburg from Trinidad Racheria who came
down this last week to teach our young ladies about ceremonial protocols & the importance of intention and treating others in a good way
✨ The Wiyot Tribe for sharing some of their regalia collection, some of which are over 100 years old
✨ Elizabeth Hernandez of the Wiyot tribe and Trinity Bowie of Bear River for all their support and hard work to make this happen

Dishgharghirat means "you are loved" in the Wiyot language & we hope to be able to provide more groups coming up next fall.

Our last group will be this next Tuesday May 5th from 4-7pm & the girls will be going out to learn how to gather maple bark - unfortunately we are at capacity for transportation, but please reach out to [email protected] if you are interested in joining us in your own vehicle!

Spring Break was a huge success! We spent two full weeks creating fun and memorable experiences with our spring breakers.

During the first week, youth enjoyed a movie at the Minor Theatre and roller skating in Blue Lake. We welcomed over 50 youth from the Eastern and Southern regions of Humboldt County, bringing together new and familiar faces for a great time.

We wrapped up the second week with our Coastal crew heading to the zoo on Tuesday, where they explored new exhibits and had a blast on the Sky Walk. On Thursday, we closed out Spring Break with another movie at the Minor Theatre, where we watched Super Mario Bros. 2 and connected with friends from different schools across the area. This final event brought together over 75 youth, ending our Spring Break programming on a high note.

Thank you to everyone who joined usβ€”we loved spending this time with you and look forward to the next break!
