Brought on by Pittsburgh Area Community Schools and under Cure Violence Global, we work to interrupt violence, mediate conflicts, and empower our community in McKees Rocks to build a safer future. Operating under the Cure Violence Global model, our team, led by Mike Mott, is dedicated to reducing violence in McKees Rocks through community engagement, conflict interruption, and long-term support. ๐ŸŒŸ Community Connections: We show up at local events, schools, and neighborhoods to engage with students, families, and residents. To build trust, raise awareness, and share resources that empower our community.

๐Ÿ›‘ Violence Prevention: Our team steps in early to interrupt potential conflicts before they escalate. By focusing on behavior change and creating positive connections, we help redefine community norms.

๐Ÿค Respectful Outreach: Using a trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive approach, we work closely with those at the highest risk, ensuring every interaction is meaningful and impactful.

๐Ÿ“ข Connecting Resources: We go beyond conversation by linking people to life-changing services like job training, counseling, and other support to help them make positive choices.

๐Ÿšจ Crisis Response: In the event of violence, we act quickly to cool things down and prevent further escalation. From mediation to ongoing support, weโ€™re there to help.

We meet up every day, check in with each other, and make sure the team is good and everyone is feeling positive and ready to work. After that, we talk about upcoming events, activities, and things that are going on in the neighborhood, strategically planning the day, which is very important. Every day is a different day that comes with different things out in the community, so we make sure we understand the plan and then hit the community with positive energy. This is what we call a briefing.
