Are you curious about incorporating conservation practices on your farm or the land you steward?

In collaboration with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and , we are able to provide technical assistance to farmers interested in implementing conservation practices which will enhance their operation and improve the farm's natural resources, such as soil and water quality. Practices could include cover cropping, high tunnel systems, installing riparian buffers along creeks adjacent to your farm, managing invasive plants, and much more.

Fill out our intake form (bit.ly/rcppkentucky) to get connected to a technical assistance provider, and we can coach you on the next steps.

Applications for funding are due to your local NRCS office by Friday, September 25th at the end of the business day. We are here to help support you before you apply, through the application process, and the implementation of conservation practices (if awarded).

It really isn't hard to keep trash in your car until you get to a trash can. Littering is pretty gross.

Just a little vent this morning.

I honestly don’t understand how people can have so little pride in the place they live. How lazy do you have to be to throw your garbage out the window instead of carrying it to a trash can?

Drive down about any road in Jackson County and look around. Bottles, cans, cups, food containers, bags and garbage thrown everywhere. And what really gets me is when people throw it out right in front of somebody else’s home. You wouldn’t want somebody dumping garbage in your yard, so why do it to somebody else? Or is this how you treat your own home too?

We have people from the detention center out picking up trash. We have volunteers giving up their own time cleaning our roads. Then somebody comes right behind them and throws more garbage out. That is just sorry.

At some point we need to quit making excuses for people. Nobody should have to follow behind a grown adult picking up the garbage they were too lazy to throw away properly.

We didn’t take on the job of cleaning up after people who have no respect for their neighbors or their community.

If you can carry a drink or a bag of food into your vehicle, you can carry the empty container back out. It really is that simple.

Have some pride. Have some respect for the people who live along these roads.

Jackson County is our home, not your garbage can.
