🌟 Announcing the Winners of the 1st Polk County 4‑H Display Challenge! 🌟

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first‑ever Polk County 4‑H Display Challenge during National 4‑H Week. We challenged our 4‑H community to create displays that showcased what 4‑H has to offer and encouraged more families to get involved.

Your creativity, 4‑H pride, and dedication to sharing the opportunities available through 4‑H were on full display across Polk County. We are proud of every participant who helped make this new tradition such a success.

Beyond Ready Award
This award recognizes a display that shows confidence, leadership, creativity, and readiness of 4‑H youth to take on new challenges.
Winner: Lilah R. a member of the Fisher-Climax Flyers 4-H Club

Judge’s Choice Award
This award was based on criteria including power to attract and hold attention, educational value, general appearance, and quality of display.
Winner: North Star 4-H Club - Downtown Display

People’s Choice Award
This award was determined by Facebook reactions — 👍 likes counted as 1 point and ❤️ hearts counted as 2 points.

🌱 Polk County 4‑H Member Named 2026–2027 Minnesota 4‑H Agriculture Ambassador! 🌱

Please help me in congratulating Ben C., a member of the North Star 4‑H Club, on being selected as a 2026–2027 Minnesota 4‑H Agriculture Ambassador!

Ben is one of 28 youth statewide chosen for their passion for agriculture and Agriscience, strong commitment to 4‑H, and enthusiasm for helping others learn about the world of agriculture. Throughout the year, he’ll help lead hands‑on plant science workshops, support programs like 4‑H/FFA Crop Scouting, and represent Minnesota 4‑H at major events including Farmfest, county fairs, the Women in Agriculture Leadership Conference, and the Minnesota State Fair.

Ambassadors also connect with University of Minnesota researchers, commodity groups, agribusiness professionals, schools, and community organizations to promote agricultural literacy and help people understand where their food, fiber, and fuel come from.
📅 Ambassadors serve Oct. 1, 2026–Sept. 30, 2027.

Did you Know?
The Dakota/Polk/Rice County 4-H Crop Scouting Team recently took their skills all the way to Champaign, Illinois, where they competed in the National Crop Scouting Contest — and brought home 2nd place! 🏆🌱
Crop scouting challenges 4-H members to identify plants, insects, diseases, and crop conditions while applying their agricultural knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Opportunities like this are one of the many ways 4-H helps young people turn their interests into hands-on experiences, connect with others from across the country, and take their learning beyond the local level.
Congratulations to the entire team on an incredible accomplishment and for representing Minnesota 4-H!

For over 80 years, the 4-H Building has been the heart of Minnesota 4-H at the Minnesota State Fair. That building hasn’t kept pace with the evolving needs of our youth - who are engaging in new, exciting and complex activities and projects.

We’re embarking on a campaign to renovate the building so it’s ready for today’s youth and future generations - from new learning zones in the building so youth can take their learning back to their communities in new ways to overnight summer camps. Thank you to our Polk County Commissioners for their continued support of Extension and the 4‑H Program in Polk County. Today we celebrated National 4‑H Week by attending the County Board meeting, where a proclamation was presented recognizing the positive impact 4‑H has across our community.

Our 4‑H Federation President, Ben C., shared highlights of his leadership in the local program, along with experiences from state and national events he has participated in—showing exactly what it means to be Beyond Ready.

It’s incredible to see the growth of our 4‑H youth through the years as they learn, engage, and discover their sparks. Their confidence, leadership, and service shine through every step of their 4‑H journey.
