Dear Sponsors,
Thank you so much for another successful year for Adopt-a-Family. Although the program looks very different than it did when we started it approximately 35 years ago, we are still serving the families in our community who need a little extra help. Some of you have been with us for many years, while others just joined us recently. Some of you may even have received gifts in the past.
Because of your generosity, every family was able to receive gifts cards for each of their children (Approximately $100 for each child from birth through 8th grade), a generous food basket to provide complete holiday meals, and an opportunity to pick out donated hats, gloves, some toys/books, school supplies, baby necessities, even some gently used winter jackets, with the help of their volunteer “personal shoppers,” who helped them browse through the tables. (See picture below from Grant Township) This year, a generous sponsor donated enough money that we were able to give each high school family member a $50 gift certificate. This made us very happy!
Through the years, I have found this program very gratifying to me personally. I loved coordinating it and matching sponsors with recipient families back in the day. As the program evolved and changed, many other people are playing more active roles in organizing it in our new format. I am so pleased with the changes and the level of cooperation. I will continue to work with it as long as I can, but l am glad to see that it will continue, with your generous contributions, for many years to come.
