Dear Member,
The Board held a special meeting on August 9, 2023 to approve two proposed policies, the Townhouse Rentals and Dock Slip Policy. This board meeting as well as the vast majority of all other board meetings are open to Members.
As you may recall, these two policies were created based upon feedback we received from our Members as well as based upon our governing documents. Throughout this year-long process, the Board has also been working with its Community Association Attorney to ensure all proposed policies are compliant with our governing documents and applicable Maryland laws. These two policies were posted for 30 days prior to the August 9, 2023 meeting on our website for our Membership to review and comment. During these 30 days, we only received four comments from our Members.
During our Board Meeting and in writing prior to that, one member, who is also a long-term dock renter, has threatened legal action if the Board approves this policy. Although the Board and our Community Association Attorney firmly believe his claim to be without legal merit, the Board voted to delay any action on the Dock Policy for an additional 45 days to allow all Members to further comment on the proposed Dock Policy. In addition, the Board resolved to post all Member comments concerning this policy in a public forum.
