Here is a photo of the quilt that is at the McGregor Library. It was designed and stitched by a group of ladies for a Save Minnewawa Association fundraiser. Does anyone have any information about this?

Today is the last day of our harvesting season. The harvester will be removed from the lake on Monday 8/31/26. The water level is extremely low so getting it out could be a challenge. There have been many problems this past year. Low water, curly leaf pondweed, no snow cover, weeds that grew at incredible speed, three weeks of waiting for the new machine to arrive and no rain. The lake was a mess. Our crew worked very hard this season they removed over 250 loads of weeds. They worked in wind and smoke filled days without complaint. I am thankful for Kent, Greg & John. They gave it their all! Not everyone was happy with the decisions that were made. The DNR recommended concentrating on the curly leaf pondweed areas to get them under control. This decision left the rest of the lake pretty much untouched for many weeks. As the season unfolded the crew was able to move to other areas and try to play catch up. As you know it was a huge undertaking. I asked for your understanding and patience as we battled weeds like never before. On our most recent pontoon ride it is once again looking good for the most part. I know there are still areas that need more attention but our permit is expiring and we are not allow to continue harvesting.
We learned many things this season.
1. You can never go up against Mother Nature and come out on top.
2. Trying to please all 540 lakeshore owners all at once is not possible.
3. Make a plan, stick to it and grow thick skin.
4. Hope that next year is a better year!
Thank you for supporting the LMA. We are a group of volunteers that serve to maintain the health and beauty of the lake we all love. I invite you to join us. Our next meeting is September 12, 2026
9 am at Bann’s.

I spoke with someone at the BBQ about letting the LMA use their private boat launch. I believe you were located near Greenwood Bay. Please contact me. Thank you Sue Westberg

This photo is from around 1982. It was the launch of the first harvester. Look at all of the people that turned out!

Thank you for coming to support your lake association! It was a beautiful day to socialize with old friends and meet new people. The BBQ is a great event that brings our lake community together for an afternoon of fun! Thank you to all that donated items to the silent auction. Thank you to the many local businesses that support the LMA with their donations to the BBQ. We enjoyed the great music of the Cherry’s. A huge thank you to Chris & Lisa and the entire Bann’s staff! You are so supportive of the LMA!

Another fun LMA BBQ day! Thank you all for coming and supporting your lake association!
