Thank you Central Georgia EMC Foundation for donating $2,000 to HHD. Please read the email that the EMC Foundation sent to HHD Below:

Good afternoon, Meskel!

Congratulations on your grant! I appreciate you stopping by to get a picture for us. It is always great to see you all. We use these photos on social media and in newspapers to tell the stories of all the outstanding charitable organizations that receive grant money through our Operation Round Up program. We can grant money to organizations like yours because of the generosity of our members who choose to round up their monthly bills!

Hello!
Yesterday, on July 13, 2024, we hosted a paint event for HHD. We extend our gratitude to Jennifer for teaching us how to paint and for her patience and understanding with deaf individuals. We also want to thank our volunteers, staff, board members, and participants. What a blessing! Most people really enjoyed and loved it. It was wonderful to see the fellowshipping between hearing and deaf individuals. HHD's purpose is to promote better social skills among the community and deaf individuals. You can check HHD's Facebook for pictures taken during the paint event.

Thank you,
Meskel Crowe, Directo/CEO

Now it's been 6 weeks, students have continued learning more ASL and deaf cultures. Some students are now ready and confident to communicate in ASL. It's not just about enjoyment, but also an opportunity to participate in varied activities and work.

Hello!

Teaching ASL to low-income individuals and a deaf person at the apartment center was a rewarding experience. Initially, the deaf individual had no knowledge of ASL, presenting an opportunity for them to communicate effectively to that deaf guy. A picture of the center shows a deaf guy sitting with a hat on.

By the second week, he has learned basic greetings and how to introduce himself, along with finger-spelling. It is encouraging when someone offers to assist the deaf individual during the ASL classes.
Additionally, we prepared blessing bags and distributed them, which they could use as prizes for games and to encourage more social interaction with the deaf individual, thus reducing isolation. We need your continued support to keep HHD serving the Deaf community. Thank you for your faithful support and donation.

Best regards,

Meskel Crowe, Director/CEO
