Esports:
Not every student finds their connection to school through traditional extracurricular activities. We want to provide multiple pathways for students to discover an area in which they can contribute, grow, and belong.
An Esports program would provide another cross-collaborative after-school opportunity centered around technology, teamwork, communication, strategy, and competition. Esports competitions are held within the county and surrounding areas during the school day, creating opportunities for students to represent their school and participate in a growing area of interest.
Establishing the program would require equipment, resources, storage, professional development, and transportation for competitions. Equipment costs are currently estimated at approximately $2,000–$3,000 per station, including a gaming computer, keyboard, and necessary peripherals.
For some students, Esports may become the place where they discover their confidence, their team, and their sense of belonging.
