This is one of the reasons spay and neuter is so important.

This 1-1/2 lb kitten was found crying in a ditch. She (we think) was found with a big wormy belly, covered in fleas, and gunky eyes. No other kittens were found. This kitten certainly would not have lasted long but luckily a resident on the way to the cemetery heard her cry and brought her to us last night.

This is what community looks like 💙

When Judy B. found a dog in pain, clearly injured and unable to put weight on his leg, she didn’t look the other way; she reached out for help. We were able to guide her to a vet, and together, we made sure he got the care he needed.

It turns out his leg had been badly injured and had already started healing incorrectly. Amputation was the best option and thanks to Judy stepping up, he got that chance.

Today, Milo is thriving. He’s healed, happy, and best of all…he’s home. Judy didn’t just help him - she kept him. He couldn’t have found a better home.

We were glad to play a small part in helping Milo get the care he needed, but this story belongs to Judy. She saw a dog in need and chose to act and that made all the difference.

This is why community matters. This is how lives are saved.

Found Puppy: McCormick (McCormick County, SC)
This small young puppy was found in a fenced in yard near the library in McCormick. He does not belong to the homeowner and he was very scared. He is currently safe with the HSMC. To claim, please email us at [email protected]. No microchip.

We had the opportunity to send Zeus to Ferry Good Dog Training and we took it!

Zeus has been working with Ferry Good Dog Training for the past 2½ weeks and just look at him now practicing loose leash walking. What a difference already!

Zeus is a handsome gray boy, about 6½ years old. He’s always been a happy, loving dog, but he gets so excited for attention that it could be a bit much at times. With some structure and guidance, he’s learning how to channel all that enthusiasm into good manners. 💕

He’s finishing up his heartworm treatment, is neutered, and up to date on his vaccines. He still has about 10 days of training left, but we would love to start introducing him to potential adopters now. If you’d like to meet Zeus and learn the commands he’s working on, we’re happy to set that up!
