’Twas the night before the car show, and all through the town, not a motor was running, not even a sound. The wax was all set, the chrome polished with care, in hopes that the classics soon would be there.

The drivers were dreaming of engines that roar, of trophies and burnouts and crowds that would soar. When out on the street there arose such a sound, I sprang from my bed to see cars and motorcycles gather ‘round.

The moon lit the curves of a gleaming Stingray, as Mustangs and Chevelles rolled into display. With rumble and power, they came shining bright— a gearhead’s dream on a warm summer night.

The judges inspected, the fans gave a cheer, as revs filled the air—it was the best night all year. And I heard someone shout as they drove out of sight:

“Happy car show to all, and to all a good night!”
